Personally I would rather see Milestone move away from the yearly releases. To me MXGP 2 and 3 were not worth the price I paid as they just seemed like a really expensive DLC. An example of what I'm talking about is that MXGP3 had the exact same gear choices as you had in MXGP2. To me they just seem to want to make as much money with as little effort possible, and I don't expect this SX game to be much different.
MXGP2 and MXGP3 play like completely different games. It is shockingly different. It's on an entirely new engine. How can you classify that as expensive DLC...

I agree on the whoops part but I've mentioned something before and I'll mention it again. Don't forget the game will have 2 different type of physics to choose from. Maybe what we've been seeing in the videos is the arcade version as oppose to the pro physics or whatever it's going to be called.

I'm hoping that's the case if not it still needs a bit of work on the physics parts. Just casing and slapping from jump to jump without losing time isn't realistic. A couple things I've noticed in the video we're when Dungey ran in the back of Musquin all that happened to Musquin was that he slid like he was on ice. I noticed it in another part (Yamaha) right after a corner/before a jump, no consequences, cleared the jump as if nothing happened. Towards the end there's a Suzuki that overjumps a landing, nose planting hard before the corner and proceeds to make the corner perfectly.

Just a couple of tweaks and those issues could be fixed. At this point they would need to release a patch to address those things since the launch is in a few weeks.

Loving the customization options. It reminds me of Untamed a little bit. A lot of choices to make the bike/rider truly your own.
If it's like MXGP3 (which I'm sure it probably is) there's 3 physics to choose from. The first one is "Easy" or something like that (I forget what it's called), then Semi-Pro, and Pro. Basically the Pro physics just let you have full control of everything, where Semi-Pro has some assist, and the easy setting has a lot of assist. Changing the physics doesn't actually change the physics of the game if you know what I mean.

Edit: I do agree though with everything you've said, and some more tweaks to the physics would really make this game shine like the graphics do. I doubt there will be much changed with the physics at this point though. I almost forgot to say the 1st person views look amazing and am looking forward to trying them out.

I thought it was mentioned that if you changed the physics settings the whips/scrubs would not be animated for this game and that it would be more realistic/challenging.

Only played the first MXGP so don't know much about how 2 and 3 actually play.

I thought their last 2 games were done on the Unreal Engine 4 but as it turns out the 2nd release on that engine will be MES.

I hope that's true because if that's the case that would be a huge step in the right direction.

On the topic of casing and slapping from jump to jump...nobody seems to believe me but I'll keep on saying it until I'm blue in the face. If you case and ride without rhythm, myself and every other dude who knows what they're doing is going to blow past you. Like, every time the riders case the jumps in all of the gameplay footage, maybe they don't lose a MASSIVE amount of time to the AI. But if you ride like that in the game online, you will get absolutely smoked. Just like MXGP3, if you race online and ride without rhythm and case shit, you will lose time hand over fist.

Just my opinion, guy. I don't feel like the $60 I spent on the game was really worth it considering it still utilized the same shitty physics we've complained about since day one, they couldn't make the new gear and made the tracks worse IMO. I've played 2 and 3 back to back recently and saying it is "shockingly different" is a far cry from the truth. Is it better? Definitely and I give them credit for that but a new engine and 2 strokes isn't worth $60 to me, especially when they won't fix their physics.

Well I think that's the right move. Nordic also decided to move on from their in-house engine for All Out. Not sure what else that is currently on the market that is open to everyone that could potentially be better.

I would love to see what a game could look like on the Frostbite 3 engine but that's not happening anytime soon since it's proprietary to EA/Dice.

Unquestionably too expensive. 100% agree with you. But like, it just straight up is not DLC. The fact they have a different engine alone is reason enough to release a new game. And just because a company uses similar physics means it is only DLC? Does that mean MX vs ATV has been releasing expensive DLC for the past 9 years since reflex came out?

I get what you're saying and I agree if you race that way online you'll get smoked. But, I just think you're missing my point. It still isn't right and I think Milestone is so close to making a perfect game if they just worked out the goofy quirks to make it look and feel more realistic. I'm still gonna play the crap out of this game and I race online practically every night with MXGP3

I totally get what you're saying and it's obvious that if you ride that way you'll lose a lot of time. I just think they should showcase that in the video's. They know better than that. They've been to the races so I'm sure at one point or another the Milestone team saw a bunch of riders case the shit out of a triple or rhythm section.

They're going for the authentic/realistic approach so I just think those minor things should be addressed. I'm sure they've received feedback on that from MXGP 2 & 3 or from the pro riders they've worked with.

The difference in my opinion is the biggest complaint people have for MX vs ATV games is not the physics like most do for MXGP. If the new MX vs ATV game had the same graphics as Reflex than I'd have a similar opinion on that. It's the age old "don't fix what's not broken". Are the Reflex physics the gold standard? No, but they are 1000 times than the MXGP physics, which IMO are broken.

Not to mention the MX vs ATV guys aren't pumping out a "new" game every year like Milestone has.

Visually, Milestone has done an incredible job, gameplay wise they leave a lot to be desired.

At 3:30 in the VVV video you can catch the A.I. Musquin casing a jump than shorter after going over the bars. A least a little repercussion for a mistake.

you won’t know how the physics feel until you play the game man. watching someone play a game that obviously isn’t good at it will change the look of how the physics really are. you also don’t know which physics option is being used in this gameplay. this game is going to be epic

From what I've seen Mav just embeds the videos that people post as links so you don't have to go to a new page.

I stand corrected on that then, I didn't realize there was that many, I haven't bought one since Alive.

I have so many ideas for the track editor I can see myself now spending more time making tracks than playing. I wonder if you will have unlimited use of the objects or if you can only use so many in a single track? I have this crazy idea with the over under obstacle...

To be fair the All In edition was not a new release. It was simply a digital download of Supercross Encore with all the DLC packages included with it.

Last attempt at promoting Supercross Encore for those that didn't previously purchase the game. Having everything included with the game was just an incentive to persuade those that didn't buy it to purchase it.

Nothing wrong with capitalising on your product one last time before moving on to a new project. They weren't the first to do it and they won't be the last.

Edit:

Unleashed 2005
Untamed 2007
Reflex 2009
Alive 2011
Supercross/Encore 2014 and 2015
All Out 2018

Supercross Encore was just an updated version of Supercross for the newer gen console (PS4 & Xbox One). Grand Theft Auto 5 did the same thing. Released it for PS3 in 2013 and Re-released it in 2014 for PS4.

Mxgp3 gameplay looked like dog shit also. Part of me thinks the game play we see is just some developer or tester cause when i got mxgp3 i feel like it looks way better because i try and incorporate style and proper line choice. I dont even use the scrub thing, just keep the bike low and get the rear wheel down first to get the traction. If they took one of the top 100 guys on the leader boards id bet the videos would be a lot better.

i completely agree. you really can’t judge physics or how the game is going to play by the gameplay videos unfortunately. a lot of people can’t seem to understand this. the mxgp3 gameplay looked complexly different then what it ended up looking/feeling like when i played it and i’m sure the same will be for both sx game and mxvsatv

Replay footage of the game. I'm a big supporter of the game, but even I can say that this gameplay is absolutely horrendous. I'm not sure who Milestone is finding to play their games, but I'm 90% sure the guy is missing a couple fingers, or like an eyeball or something idk how someone can be this bad.

Is that view available in MXGP 3 and can you actually choose it to ride or is it only for replays?

I can't see why anyone would want to play with that camera view.
