You know what, let me put this another way. Nobody except Chad Reed knows what Chad was thinking when he got seven 2nd place finishes in a row. All I do know is that he had the points lead at each of those races. The one race where he didn't have the points lead what did he do? He won. The next race after this when he was tied for the points lead, what did he do? He won again! He now possesses an 11 point lead.

Have you ever heard the saying that you can't win the championship in one night, but you can LOSE it in one night?

I don't know the dollar amount Suzuki has on the table for Reed as a bonus if he wins this series. If I had to guess I would put the championship bonus Suzuki is dangling in front of Reed in the seven figure range. I'm guessing this dollar amount is so significant that it motivates young Mr. Reed into riding as smart as he can in hopes of cashing in on this bonus by having the most points

As for James speed, well that has never been a question. Over the seven races James finished in front of Chad, what was James average lead? I'm guessing it was no more than 5 seconds. Put those 5 seconds into 20 laps and how much faster than Chad is James? My Point is that these guys are very close in speed. They are so talented that to call either of them a derogatory name is pure ignorance on the part of a fan.

Hahahahahaha!!!
Unfortunately James fell and Reed got another freebie.
I dont know who Reed should thank more....James for falling or Jlaw for
just moving out of the way and saying here you go chad take the win.
What a joke....

Maybe you are mistaken, but it was Bubba that had Jason riding with him just a few weeks ago. Was it not?

Also lets not forget, Chad came from almost dead last on the start after Bubba took out half the field.

I was at Daytona last year when Chad was over a minute up, and he had luck go against him. You can't blame Chad for Bubba's crash, only Bubba can have blame placed on him.

Lets all just be happy that Bubba was not hurt worse then he was, it could have been really bad.

You guys ever think of being a fan of RACING, and not bash each others' rider?

But if James goes on a Rampage and wins the next few races and doesnt crash, it will backfire on Reed. And thats only IF reed keeps getting 2nd with no bad luck

You really need to find another sport ... because you clearly don't understand this one.

Here - Guy B put this up for stupid tools like you.

GuyB wrote: R-acer...I'm going to talk slow, and try and use as few words with more than one syllable (sorry) as possible.

It's called a championship (sorry for the big word) series.

If you have a DNF, or a crash that causes you to finish down in the final order for one race, it hurts your chances for the big trophy (and paycheck) at the end of the season.

The riders know how the point system works, and the guys with a chance at the championship (sorry) often ride at a pace that allows them to finish consistently. It's generally a bad idea to try and change the system so fans of a particular rider get the result that they want. That's not how it works in the real world.

I hope this helps you understand our sport a little better.

Hey it's only 11 points right ? JS can do that in 3 or 4 SX wins, and there's what 8 left ? 25 for 1st and what for 2nd ?

Ok follow me if you can becasue im going to talk slowly you "stupid tool"......

I dont agree with the points system and i dont expect it to be changed for one rider thats ridiculous. But to win 7 consecutive races in a professional series of this caliber is difficult for anyone to do....even James. So to have one mulligan set you that far back i dont agree with.

So you and Guy B can think and say what you feel, but the bottom line is they need to follow suit of other series and give more of an incentive to win. We all watch these races to see who WINS.....

Now was that slowwwww enough for you tools?

Realize the stupid tool part wasn't aimed at me but I do have to disagree somewhat with your point.

Yes we all watch the races to see who wins......that is exciting and part of the attraction.
The teams are also involved and heavily invested in the championship and it should be about more than just speed or wins.

Some fans want to see who can take it all the way some just care about the podiums.

Win the battle lose the war sound familiar?
It is about being able to consistently score the most points for the duration of the season.
That means using your head instead of your throttle hand sometimes.

However can't you also see how this point structure has now set up the excitement you crave?

Stewart has to go on a tear and win, Reed can ride smart.
Somebody is going to have to push it harder to win in the end.

to me formula1 is the racing series and nascar is like eating at kfc instead of a 4 star restaurant. if some of you are so redneck that you think nascar is actually racing then its not our problem.

the points are o.k. we have had 3 or 4 exciting races with this system. its chads fault that stewart has a tendency to crash 2 or 3 times per season where he loses a good amount of points. if stewart was racing all the other guys but chad these would be a snoozefest just like the nationals last year.

the point structure was set before the season started, it hasnt changed, everybody could see their strong and weak points and plan a strategy. whats unfair about that?

every generation has had its fast crasher remember bradshaw or lusk? and now stewart.

in car racing we had senna and prost both were great only with different approaches thats the stewart vs reed show on supercross

Supercros wins.. Reed 37.. Stewart 32.
Supercross Championships.. Reed 2 Stewart 1..

More of an incentive to win? Ya, theres no incentive to win with the present system.

I'm not an insider, but I bet it's fare to say, that both James and Chad
would rather be remembered as a champion, than "the fastest man on the planet".

If things keep going the way they have for the last two weeks, this is what we will have.

Stewart=fastest

Reed=champion

I guess we both think that you are one tiresome, stupid tool. ... as does most of the rest of the board.

You and Racer act like pouting 5 year-olds with your endless childish rants about how "your guy" is the best. Please find another sport .... or at least another board to pollute.

Reed is the ONLY rider to finish on the podium at ALL the races so far this year, hopefully this will win him the championship. James has another tactic we will see who wins I rekon that Chad taking the points lead is going to rattle James mentally we will see how it all plays out in the coming months Take it to Vegas!!

I would love to see the points lead change hands 4 more times before Vegas. The only thing that would make that scenario even better was if more than two riders were involved in the battle for the points lead
3/8/2009 2:24pm
What pisses me off is that why has crashing become an excuse for fans! If you crash and can not finish, then it is your fault! Bottom line is you have to keep it on two wheels, all the way to the finish. I have nothing but respect for JS, he is an unbeleivable racer. For him to finish where he did is remarkable! Why can't it be left at that. He did the best to salvage the race, and did not end up with a DNF. Hats off to him! Why do we have to hear all the "if this or if that" BS. Regardless if the points are set up correct, all the riders are on the same system, and it is the same for everyone. They know what is at stake if they get a DNF.

So JLaw pulled over to let Reed by, big deal. I beleive Reed would have caught him anyway. (I know that no JS fan thinks that!) Maybe JLaw has grown up a little. Personally I think he knew he was gonna get passed by Reed and thought "why fight it and take us both out."

Were you equally as traumitized when Damon Bradshaw won more races but Jeff Stanton won the title? yes james does loose because he crashes but if you are trying to tell me reed is faster im going to tell you that maybe you shouldnt pass down those values. ya digg?

i dont watch this shit to see some great consistent rider. i watch to see someone like james push shit to the limit, willing to take that extra step to win, someone that aint scared of shit.
thats why im a james fan because he is an animal behind those bars and you know it.

now like i have said a million times, reed is one of the greats in the history of this sport but the bottom line is he isnt as fast as james and you know it. screw the BS points system that crowns a consistent champ at the end.
The lap times and results from this week don't agree with you.

You must be one of the clueless that is always saying "Jlaw brings color to the sport", "who cares that he is breaking laws because he hauls ass... doood", ya-da-ya-da... he finally does something right by realizing he has the anchor out and Reed is putting in lap times 1 to 2 seconds faster than him... not to mention Jlaw had nothing to gain by holding up someone in the middle of a championship battle. He actually earned some (all be it a very small amount) respect from me for that move. And... he also just proved what MANY people here have been saying all along... if he just took his JOB a little more maturely and seriously (IE: train and grow up) he could be a champion at the highest level. Natural talent and childish behavior just aren't gonna get it done for him. Yes, I am jealous of him, and it's SUPER frustrating to see someone that has sooo much talent (that I would give my left nut to have) not roll with it and make the most of it.

its all BS and you know it. I respect a guy for racing someone. not someone that moves the fuck out of the way like a pussy. screw that politically correct bullshit.
one of the reasons i liked jlaw was because he dont give a shit what anyone thinks.
well i guess all the main stream shit is starting to get to him.
because he dont give a shit what anyone thinks.

I haven't heard very much about that fact that Stewart got up from a horrific crash with a pretty trashed bike and some shattered personal gear after giving the whole field about a 30+ second lead and fought his way back to 7th. Pretty damn impressive, no matter WHO the rider is. Give some credit where it is due.

Serious Answer....They are!!!
You were waiting for me to bite this one werent you?
Actually Dad I wasn't fishing

JS shouldn't have scored points at A1 just like Chad shouldn't have scored points last year at Daytona.

MxDaD..... actually... james looses because he crashes.... reed was the best last night.... no matter how you stack it he still crossed the line first no matter how you saw it. Were you equally as traumitized when Damon Bradshaw won more races but Jeff Stanton won the title? You are obvioulsy the type of guy that comes from the "it doesnt matter how you finished your still the best in my eyes" crowd.... I sure hope you are not passing down these same type values. Dizzy

yes james does loose because he crashes but if you are trying to tell me reed is faster im going to tell you that maybe you shouldnt pass down those values. ya digg?

i dont watch this shit to see some great consistent rider. i watch to see someone like james push shit to the limit, willing to take that extra step to win, someone that aint scared of shit.
thats why im a james fan because he is an animal behind those bars and you know it.

now like i have said a million times, reed is one of the greats in the history of this sport but the bottom line is he isnt as fast as james and you know it. screw the BS points system that crowns a consistent champ at the end.
It's LOSE!!!!

Not LOOSE!!!!

BS points system.....People go to these Races to see someone Win. Not Ride around and be consistent. All the other motorized sports award the winner of the event with additional points like nascar has done. To have to win 7 in a row to get back toward the front of the points is a joke.
It doenst matter.....Like i keep saying....Its cool that we all like different riders but that dont change the fact that we all know who is the fastest.

Here - Guy B put this up for stupid tools like you.

So with that logic Chad should've won the 03 title? Because of most wins?
