Please keep Adam and Terri Pinkard and their family in your prayers.
Sadly Terri's son (Adam's step-son) 11-year old Donald Glenn Wright Jr, known to most of us as DJ was killed today in a terrible accident at their home.
Like many of us did when we were young boys (and a lot of girls too) DJ and two other boys were playing in a large hole near the track. Tragically, while DJ was in the hole alone, the wall collapsed trapping him. Adam, Johnny Borders and other rescuers dug frantically but couldn't get to DJ in time.
The Cornoner pronounced DJ dead at the scene late this afternoon.
Donald Glenn Wright Jr was born September 21st, 1997.
My first thoughts of DJ were of his kind face. He was always wanting to climb up in the flagging stand and help flag the finish line at Holeshot. He and his buddies had a great time waiving the yellow and checkered flags in between motos. That is how I will always remember him - grinning from ear-to-ear waiving the checkered flag.
There are no words to express the heavy sorrow we all feel for the Pinkard family and for DJ's father and his family.
The funeral arrangements have not been made as of this evening. I will post the arrangements as soon as they are available.
The absolute best thing about being a member of the motocross family, is just that - the motocross family. At times like this we always pull together to support our own.
We ask that you lift DJ's spirit up in prayer and pray for his family as they try to cope with the tragedy of his untimely passing.
With great sorrow,
Tom
