Do these AF's actually ride good or is the engineering lost after you chop up the frame?

I have no idea since i haven't been on one ever but my guess is that they are pretty horrible to ride.

Probably very fun to do a AF project and to ride it.

Yeah it'd be fun, bit out of my zone I think but I just think of Kenny's comments when they were building that 500 for Blose... they said it was horrible and it was done in a shop. Maybe it was because it was a 500?

Back to the topic.

Any specs on the engine? Will it be stock? What year is it?

That one might have been better off as a CRF250.

The geometry on my 06 crf250r is fine after the cr500 swap. I bet you couldn't even tell the difference in handling, just the sheer excitement would seperate the bikes.

This is awesome man. I'll be following.

I rode a cr500, back around 2001, when guys were converting those. Rode it back to back with my steel framed cr500. It was night and day better turning, because of the geometry. Getting to the inside lines and turning.

Nice project. I like the rear head stays. Very smart to use the stock location for the frame mounts. What are you planning to use for the airbox to carb connection? Also it might just be the angle of the picture but it looks like there might be some clearance issues with the kick starter.

That looks pretty damn nice! Very clean. Good job on that. Have you ridden it much yet? What's it feel like as far as handling , turning and so forth? Does the 250cc motor pull the 450 chassis around ok? Also have you weighed it? Curious as what it might weigh compared to kx 250 and kxf450.
