This game comes out in January, correct? Why haven't we heard a thing about it or even seen gameplay to get hyped up on? A song off a setlist in the game and cryptic messages don't do shit for me.

When I messaged them and said I wish they got the game licensed I mentioned game play is still the most important. They said they agreed the game play is important so let's hope they nail the game play if they do this the game could be good let's hope this gets the series headed in direction. If you get a great game to add dlc to you can make money over and over again off the same players and bring in new players as well. Seems like a simple recipe for success hope they are listening to us.

The game does come out in January. We haven't heard much but I wouldn't say nothing. They've made the announcement, launched the website, released gameplay images, stated it was done on the Unreal Engine 4, gave us details about the game, etc.

As for why there hasn't been a video or gameplay video released as of yet it's because they are still tweaking things. They know that if they release a video and things are off that it's going to turn fans/buyers away. They really only have one shot to demonstrate their product. After the previous game releases they know it's critical to have a good marketing video.

Personally, I think the reason they are releasing songs is because they had to change their marketing strategy after Milestone made their announcement. They probably already had a video done and ready to go but had to revise things after Milestone's announcement so instead of staying silent and ignoring the fans until their new video is ready to be launched they are doing that to somewhat stay relevant. I think it would be a wiser choice to release more gameplay images over songs to keep the fans interested and wanting more but I don't work for the company.

But you're right in terms of what they are doing so far, it's not making people run out to pre-order the game.

you guys need to remember that just because a game is coming out in january, they don’t need to show any gameplay at all. the only gameplay you need is the gameplay you get when you play the game. everything else is just because they decided to do it....for marketing and for the fans. but with that being said....

do you ever think that maybe it’s because of how big of shit stains you guys are when you see the gameplay? how critical you are and what it probably does to the morale of the staff after putting in as much hard word as they do trying to work under the direction of some guy upstairs in an office telling them what they can and can’t do.

every other mxvsatv game that has been released...just read the comments...you all do nothing but shit on the game, complain and stamp your feet like children. most of you don’t even deserve any pre-release gameplay, all you’ll do is whine about it anyway

the longer gameplay is out, regardless of if the game is good or not, the longer they have to sit online and listen to you all bitch and complain about what you don’t like and what they didn’t put in the game...completely overlooking what they did tho

I messaged them if they won't release game play yet they should release more photos. They showed the one outdoor national track got us excited it looked more realistic than some of their recent releases. I think they need to reconsider the marketing plan. We keep wanting more info but the info they do give us doesn't answer any of the stuff we're interested in. At the least they should be releasing other mx track pics and some sx pics.

I've seen it on Facebook and Instagram.

I replied to someone's comment about the release date being in January and they liked my reply.

That said I'm not sure why it's not posted on their website. Probably has to do with the fact that it could be pushed back a couple months. Definitely in Q1 of 2018 so January-March.

Edit: Ron-Ron also said January 2018.

we're sorry dad...

can you tell us the story about using newspaper wrapped around your feet for shoes again? especially the part where you emphasize how grateful you were to even have the newspaper?

no. i think they're not releasing gameplay because they're fucked in light of what the competition is bringing to the table.

any bitching they're getting is reaping the harvest for past games put out, from the population of people that actually play the shit out of them and are passionate about them.

Why is stating your opinion not allowed when the game is flawed and clearly not what the masses want?

If a game is bad, it's bad. And if they don't want to listen to their buyers then they deserve a shitload of negative feedback.

Simple suggestion: Don't make the game play shit. And Release footage with someone that is actually good at the game.

Simples. No more bitching and moaning, staff don't get there feelings hurt by stranger's comments, and we all get on with life. Wink

Well, let's just say we agree to disagree. And I think this is one of the major issues with this series. But, no company wants mouthy, disrespectful feedback. But if it is presented intelligently and with respect then a company is losing out on not listening.

One of THE most important aspects of game development is consumer feedback. Two examples. Take NBA2K...and yes, their budget is thru the roof....they constantly are asking for feedback and implementing what their fans want. They want to know what you like and more importantly what you dislike.

Another example is the Japanese Fire Pro Wrestling series. Yes, wrestling is fake but Fire Pro is an amazing series that was programmed by less than 5 people. And it's been going for over 25 years since the NES days right up 2017 on PC/PS4 with Fire Pro World. Look that series up on Steam and you will see EXACTLY how a company, even a tiny one, should build a game thru fan feedback. They, again, thrive on what their hardcore fans ask for and develop the game around those consumers. It is impressive. Rainbow needs to take notes. Not just Rainbow. Any developer could learn a thing or two from Spike Chunsoft.

So, big or small, input from the hardcore fans are important aspects in a game series growing and progressing. Yes, some people just bitch and whine. But lots of people give constructive input. Being honest isn't a crime. Sometimes you need people to call you out if you're just being lazy. Those are the people who actually care.

Rainbow has a history of just doing what they want. This is fact. Look at their FB and Youtube channels. Aside from the bring back Reflex crap, there is so much venom from consumers for Encore. They have been making console MX games since the early 2000s. They should have this pretty much dialed in. And it's not just direction. Ok, let's say they don't care about the hardcore MX fan and just want an all around off road game. Ok. But it still has to be done correctly. But the game is called MX vs ATV. I would think the MX community would be a large portion of their demographic.

Aside from most of Reflex and some aspects of Alive (JS7 stuff) their games have always been average at best...to me, that is.

Again, been at this for nearly 15 years...and more if count MCM. Yet, never an official license, very unrealistic track designs at times (scale, design, etc), OEM bikes you must purchase separate on the more current games, really poor and unintelligent AI...I've seen riders riding down the track backwards on Encore, no valid points series or complete race days with SX qualifiers, heats, lcqs, mains or 2 moto MX formats, no proper career mode...though MTX did it quite nicely in their one and only MX game, no full race replays, very limited control advancements other than the admittedly brilliant rider reflex. Examples being no rear brake, no proper shifting. Stale to zero presentation. The list goes on.

This is all magnified by Milestone coming along and with the MXGP series just really advancing the genre. Yes, we know the whips and scrubs are weak. But they get almost everything else right and above everything, even if it's not all perfect or to one's liking, they push the envelope and try and move forward giving us all the things I listed above that Rainbow hasn't. And that seems to be progressing even further with their new Supercross game. And Milestone started MX in 2012 with MUD. It was almost universally hated...though it did have some good points, albeit very arcade.. so they listened and did a 180 and gave us MXGP.

What's frustrating is that you can tell that Rainbow does have a good core simcade engine in there. Reflex was solid, Alive I think was even better with proper track scale and weight but the game was cut so short and hampered by poor tracks other than the JS ones. But for the most part it's been just lethargy in their progression of the series. They've become complacent due to little competition. That has now changed. So we shall see how they react..

But no, I disagree that everyone is bitchy whiners and thus that is why they should not or have not released any gameplay There are a lot of people who want all MX games to be good and solid and take a lot of time to try to open discussion for them improving their series. I have spent countless hours trying to CONSTRUCTIVELY critisize their games and to give ideas of what the MX community at least wants in a game. For the most part, it has fallen on deaf ears.

Again, I hope they turn it around. But I'm not holding my breath. Their track record is they do what they think is cool and don't seem to really care what the MX fans want.

All my opinion. Right, wrong or indifferent.

For the record, I hope they make me eat my words and release Lucas Oil Outdoor Motocross replica tracks for All Out. I'm supporting the series either way as I do all MX games. I just want more from them.

Track layouts can't be subject to copyright? So why couldn't they just replicate tracks anyway and just name them differently... especially out doors

Well, since they do the track maps and work in conjunction in some way with MX Sports as a sponsor for the Outdoors I seriously don't think they would want to ruffle feathers in their relationship by making the tracks but changing the names. That doesn't sound like particularly good business.

I don't remember what page it is in this thread but that topic was already brought up and a few people gave some good answers as to why THQ Nordic wouldn't do that. I think it basically came down to the fact that it would give them a bad name in the moto industry for ripping tracks off.

Would that not be the equivalent of a music artist releasing a song, then someone else releasing the same tune but changing the title of it? Just screams court case.

i don't know why you would suspect that outdoor tracks wouldn't be subject t o copyright laws.....

if a track could prove that it's layout and likeness was used and that the parent company gained a profit from using said likeness....of courseit wouldbe a lawsuit.

now if it was a community build track editor generated track- it'd be ok, as tat wasn't part of the original product sold for profit by company xyz

As big of a cluster as the promotion of All Out seems to be compared to Milestone’s, I do see a positive from all this. THQ Nordic appears to be making some changes in order to compete with Milestone, as opposed to just shrugging it off as if they aren’t a legitimate threat or as “they’re going a different direction than us.” So that should be good for both series.

The only gameplay I need is when I play the game? Holy shit dude. Would you buy a house without looking inside it first? That's not the most ideal marketing. It's a good thing you don't work in the advertising dept for them.

There's also a clear difference between stating your opinion and whining. What would you like us to do? Applaud them and tell them everything is great? Expect them to not be able to take criticism? Screw that man. You're gonna have guys that shit on the game, but from what I've seen, the majority on here at least try to give constructive criticism. I'm not talking about Facebook comments made by a bunch of ass-hats.

Any of you guys out in California plan on going to the Transworld MX Mini Major this weekend?

The MX vs ATV team will be there and you'll be able to play the game.

If any of you are going, please do us all a favor, take your phone out and grab some footage or let someone film you while you play.

Thanks.

Sincerely all Vital MX gamers.

Looks like the setup is in a trailer so they might not let you take footage. They were at the Ironman GNCC and still no footage to be found. They might be strict on that but nothing like trying.

I think one big thing that I think they went backwards on is the re-addition of the back to front preload. I would like preload to happen when the rider (right stick) is leaning back. Taking off in a neutral position, with the right stick also in a neutral position, would be a normal jump. Leaning back and getting the rider's weight on the rear shock would give extra pop if needed, just like real life. Of course, just like real life the pitch of the bike would then have to be adjusted once in the air.

Yeah, it's pretty much the general consensus among moto fans that they preferred the Reflex/Alive lean back method to the Unleashed/Untamed/Encore method. This was made clear but they decided to stick with the push up method. Go figure.

If Michael has any footage what's the point of him releasing it now? He played it a while ago and the MX vs ATV team has continued working on it since then.

I believe Michael said he played it while it was still in Alpha mode. At this point it's probably in Beta mode but more than likely in Demo mode since they are letting the public play it. Seeing as they've demoed it at a couple events now and that there's no clip on YouTube I'm thinking they are being strict with people shooting footage. It's really unusual not to have footage from a public event.

As for his opinion he stated that it was more of a simcade than arcade style game which is good. Also, don't quote me on this but I also believe he mentioned something about real tracks or it might of been realistic style tracks.
