Hey, I'm stoked to get this kinda game finally. I'm not apologizing for it. Sorry if it bothers you.
NHL is not a good example, because that series has lost all innovation and the A.I are fucking tards. It looks good on the outside, but its bankrupt on the inside which sucks ass. There is sooo much more i can elaborate on in regards to this series, as ive played the series since nhlpa 92 on my sega (damn, This makes me feel old at 28 lol).
NBA2k18, is more of a simulation/ story game now, but its fucking epic... the stuff within the game makes it so awesome..
for any moto game or series to get to their level, They would need to create a Amatuer to Pro rank, semicade (simulation/ arcade) game with sponsorships from the days your on 65ccs trying to get to lorrettas to the day you first turn pro and throughout your pro career... In 2k you have sponsorship negotiations, and the sponsors pay you and throughout the season they will post you on a billboard have you do different things, you also go to meetings and choose what image of yourself you want on the billboard, its fucking in depth..after certain games, you get interviewed by the commentary crew, and you get to choose your responses which is really fun for numerous reason (They give you multiple choices, and its your decision to say something good or dumb and cocky, depending on the question). 1. being it can cost you sponsorships and make your team hate you and even piss of the GM, which will cause you to get traded if your teammate rating drops to low etc.... Another thing is that the voice acting for this game is not canned, theres so many lines of scripts.. Ive only heard the commentator say something twice onetime in my whole 82 game career season mode...For Moto to make something of this caliber, It would become the holy grail... but i realistically, do not think this is possible unless Monster opens up the pocketbooks huge and the sponsors want in to produce a game of this caliber.
I like the direction of this game though, with being a legit replica.(I've wanted this since, ea sports supercross) ..Now if they can avoid the barebones internals... I would love to be able to use my previous season results to do contract negotiations and team testing would be a great addition, like during the week you go back to your home and run 3-5 laps testing a random new part (sent to you from the factory on the bike.. if you're a factory rider etc.. I would love for them to show the podium and let you choose a response etc. (as long as they do not can the scripts etc)
as for the physics, 3rd person players just want to see a rider who is as loose as the original mx unleased, but have the bike control physics/scrub wise of mx simulator
The first person player, wants to have a responsive bike etc.. (rear brake, bringing the nose down quickly etc).
But no, no Monster money.

I remember having a blast free riding on mx vs atv and checking out the environments. Also, remember mx2002 and the free riding in that game? The canyon or whatever, and the school yard? I had more fun doing that than I do playing mxpg3. Mxgp3 is an awesome game, but honestly I get so bored playing it. It's the same thing over and over. I'd love it if mxgp had a free ride mode or something. But I am stoked on the new sx game coming! The physics look like the best we've seen for a MX game.
Another note, am I the only one that hates playing in 1st person? I feel like you can barely see anything, it might be cool on VR. But I like looking at my rider and set up while I'm racing too lol.
which is something i never considered until now.
Mx gaming fans were lucky.. we have 4 games to choose from... mxsim, mxgp, MVAAllOut and now MES
us hockey fans have 1.... fucking EA nhl and it sucks lol.
I'm pretty sure their are more hockey fans/ beer league players that game and want a good hockey game then all of moto haha
Out little sport is doing alright by the gaming measure lol
Few things that stood out
- 2017 tracks
- Most riders & Most stadiums???
- Track editor = can upload to online community and vote for best tracks. Available to download.
- Online = single races and full championship series
- 2 different physics mode = entry level and pro-physics for more hardcore/realistic feel.
- Sheheen will command the race
- Unreal Engine isn't really designed for racing games so they had to tweak it for their needs and expectations. Future will be even better.
I don't think its entirely unreasonable to want a bike that doesn't look like its riding on the moon, I mean they nailed everything from the graphics to the licensing, A+ on all that, so why not get the bike and air physics right too?
But I also understand the importance of appealing to the widest audience possible, so I'm just hoping there is a noticeable difference between the normal and pro settings and they don't half ass it.
Also that's insane if none of the Monster Energy Kawi guys are going to be in the game, considering their title sponsor is on the cover.. Wonder what the details on that are about.
If Tomac & Grant aren't included I seriously don't get the reasoning behind that decision. That's just odd and considering neither of them have been shown in still pictures, video clips or gameplay clips it's certainly pointing towards them not being included in the game.

GDub, thank you for the comparison video. In the future hopefully we can put all Milestone Supercross related posts in this thread Maverick initially started. Thanks!
One thing I am real excited about is a bit of a different approach this time from Milestone. They are stressing its not just about the racing but also about the show, the presentation. Implementing cut scenes and a tv style presentation is exactly what I've been hoping for since Supercross 2000.
I had a chance to speak with Ralph Sheheen about his role in the game and he said that he thought I personally would love how they did it. I think they are really trying to capture not only the racing aspect of our sport but the presentation, the atmosphere and the all around spirit of the sport. Ralph seemed stoked how it turned out.
They are going for a balance between accessible to new fans But also have enough simulation aspects for us hardcore fans.
I always said that having Art Eckman and David Bailey made Supercross 2000 sound more like the real sport than any other MX/SX game despite it being early stages of sports game commentary. It gave the game the atmosphere of Supercross.
Monster Energy Supercross looks to raise that to a whole new level. Hoping to get more info from Ralph on details. If do so, I'll post it here.
I think they will use the same base as in that game.

I can skip the first 4 GP of the season, and effectively give the leaders 150-200 point lead over me, but by the end of the season I can still win the championship.
In MXGP3, it’s a total guessing game. Cairoli will go 1-19 or 2-18 every race. Two totally polarizing scores every GP, same goes with the rest of the field.
Would love to see them tidy that feature up, especially with Dungey being in the game, would hope they accurately reflect the consistency of the top riders.
If your playing MXGP3 in 3rd person your doing it wrong.
It would be like playing Madden but you have no season mode. Just one game. Now THAT totally loses me. I can deal with average air physics especially when you have solid ground physics and good, somewhat realistic cornering. Whipping and scrubbing just are not that important. To me, at least.
But literally this is up to each individual as to what is important to them. Capturing the sport, the authenticity, the atmosphere, the correct bikes, team's, riders, stadiums, gear, accurate points series and having pretty accurate scaling and speeds are more crucial to me than having a bit better air physics and not having any of the former.
But again, it's up to each individual. There's no right nor wrong. Just preference.
