As far as the Concept 2, I had a long running search on Craigslist which finally hit paydirt one day. I got it for $400. Dont be afraid of the older units, these things are all basically the same and indestructible and easy to rebuild.

Road cycling is simply a fat burning tool for me. It does a little bit of cardio, but I dont really sprint or climb. If its windy then its a heluva leg workout. Basically the road bike allows you to go out on recovery day and burn some calories, get a little cardio and loosen up. For upper strength do pushups, use the dumbells and bands for curls, triceps, back and shoulders. Get P90X, it will provide all you need.

You can get a new on amazon for 900 with a warranty and I never found one on craigslist for under 700. So I went with the one with a warranty and free shipping.
You will never find a C2 rower by checking CL randomly. You have to create an account and build a search. Whenever one gets posted you get an email. When the email comes in, YOU CALL IMMEDIATELY. C2 rowers sell within hours of being posted.

I did that, got the alerts on my phone, now I dont know how to get rid of the alerts lol

And you are right, they go quick regardless of price. I mainly found them up to two hours away in the bay area so it was hard for me to get there before they were sold.

On a budget... Try these:

- Adjustable dumbbell set and maybe some extra 10's so you can go heavy with them
- Med Ball/Slam Ball 12 kg
- Kettlebell (a lighter one for higher rep and overhead work (16kg) and a heavy one for swings (24 or 32 depending on strength))
- Suspension trainer (TRX)
- Small sled (not a prowler)

You could get all of these either new or second hand very easily and all for less money than a rower and you can get very creative and get strong and fit at the same time!!

Can't stand the spin bike training, so boring.
Rowers are great, but I prefer my eliptical cross trainer.
I also do a lot of work on the punch, kick bag (martial arts background).
Core training and body weight exercises.
And last but definitely not least is yoga..flexibility is key to finding great fitness and longevity.

^^This^^, I would add in an adjustable bench so you can do flat, incline, and decline. Also get some dumbells and rubber bands. For cardio, rower and treadmill. I also have a leg extension machine for rehabbing injured knees and leg muscles, but that is optional of course (I'm getting old and have plenty of injuries to rehab).

Yep. Squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press, pendlay row are basic essentials.

Anybody used the Concept2 SkiErg rower? The one you see Roczen stand up and pull down all the time?

I have a dumbell rack with 10-40lbs in 5 lb increments, a small bench, and some barbells as well.
I can get a great workout just with the weights, plus pushups and an ab wheel, but not very good for legs.

For cardio (and overall fitness and strength) I mountain bike 2-3 times per week for 60-90 minutes each time, going as fast as I can go without stopping (treat it like a moto), except for water once in a while. I try to ride where there's some climbing and fun technical sections to keep it interesting, and practice balance, line choice, and grit while building endurance.

If you find the right trails, the right amount of climbing (about 1000ft vertical), and push, it'll do far more than burn fat.
The added bonus, is that it's almost as fun as MX, especially since I can do it a lot more often.

Add to this riding MX once a week or so, and your fitness will go through the roof!

I'd love to try a rower, and I will one day, but it's really hard for me to ever do cardio indoors when I have trails and good weather outside. I just can't do it.
