Stock gearing after trying a 50 , decal kit ,radiator braces , a fat bar and hand guards . And a remap
For map 3 . Where does it end? Engine hanger change and all this is not going to make us faster
Spend your time and money riding and training right at your skills etc not just banging
Out moto after moto . Susspension is where I would get the comfort your chasing. The bike
Is sweet , just ride it unless your young enough to go pro.
I'm sure he is a grown ass adult, which means he can do what he wants.

I was not trying to take the piss , just saying we all sometimes just tinker to much when we need to spend the time perfecting our skillset. I play with my setup as much as the next guy but once I am comfy I just race the dam thing,
we often just over think to much when we just need to get on with it. If the difference is really noticeable , hell im keen to try it myself but im just saying I cant see it making much difference. upping the spring rate to 18 spec would be a better change if you are still running stock ?

Are the 17 RX mounts the same part number as the 18?

I was waiting for the 18 schematics but pulled the trigger on the RX mounts since they took forever but still haven't had a chance to install them. Might consider returning if they're different

The RX mount is different than the 18. The mount they developed for 18 came straight off the race team bikes after they had tested multiple mounts.

part numbers for the mounts are 50407-MKE-A10 (right) and 50408-MKE-A10 (left) should be able to go your local dealer and order them. Hondapartsnation,com also has them.

That's the part numbers for the 18 mounts? If so then they are the same parts as the 2017 RX.

Looked at most of the online OEM retailers and they don't have the 18 schematics up yet is why I asked.

all good man, hell there is worse we all could be spending our money and time on other than motorcycle parts haha.
ive got the bike pretty well dialed suspension wise. spring rates for my weight and also saved my dampner from my 2012. only thing i notice is some small head shake on highspeed g out transitions. such as on bottom of landings of creeks going into the upside of the transition. Honda Frames are Notorious for ridge and head shake. im hoping the hangers will allow that flex im looking for. If not, ill live with it and just ride the damn thing.

I found a new dampner off a 16 , want to run it for same reasons as you . Bit of head shake on fast downhills at one of the tracks I race. I'm picking I would have got it more at others in summer hard pack areas . I ride a lot of sand but have a race coming up soon that will be first hard surface with stones as well. Definitely best honda
Made imo and that's coming from a yamaha guy. With the full yoshi and my remap on map 3 this engine
Is super strong. I use the mellow map on low traction situations thou it's that good. I'm not going to lie ,
I do want to ride the new 18 blue bike . I have had a couple of Hondas 05,08 250f . 07 450 enjoyed all of them .
I switched back as I got over the size of the yamaha , just to big of a feel for little guys. Now they slimed it
Down . I'll do one more season on my 17 and then will see but definitely red or blue for me mid way though next

This may sound silly but back when we had a 10 KX450, I made some head stays out of mild steel. Even at 50+ I could feel the difference in those stays. Some may not be uber fast but can still feel subtle differences made to a bike. Good luck and enjoy making yourself feel comfortable on a great bike.

One thing I've noticed is this whole year when riding several tracks here in NE it seems like I have been the only one on a new CRF. Sometimes I'll see one other but that's it. Used to be mostly red at the tracks...a lot of orange though. Love mine.

Tokyo Mod ECU programming
Protaper bars
50 tooth rear sprocket
suspension was revalved by ProValve
Stiffer springs
and finally took up my friend Tom offer and got some Dubya wheels for it.

I installed the 18' engine mounts on my 17' last weekend, while at the competive edge and i was impressed. I feel like it gives the bike a more forgiving feel whenever the front or rear touches the ground initially. The newer mounts are 1/2 mm thinner as well. Im wondering, what drilling a hole in them will do.
Also having great comfort with the Pro Circuit linkage, with 102mm of sag.

Map 1 you can't change
Map 2 is stock mid and top but with a softer hit in the bottom. It's perfect it's basically the 18 new stock map
Map 3 is bad ass. Lots of Mid hit it's a blast but I can see myself getting in trouble with it.

Just rode mine today with the new mounts. It's an overall softer feeling chassis now with less vibration in my opinion.
I'd like to try out a new map for a softer hit right off the bottom at like 1/8 throttle

Bringing this up again as I received my 2018 model today. Pretty stoked on a new bike again.

Been riding the demo 2018 model for 5 hours now though, so I knew what to expect (I work at a dealership) but glad to have my own bike so I can start adding some mods to it myself.

So far I've only taken off the stock plastics and seat cover. Replaced with a full UFO red kit and their new stadium plate (where the brake hose goes behind the plate, really neat) in order to keep the stock ones new for sale in march.
New seat cover from Blackbird Racing.

I fitted a Magura HYMEC 167 hydraulic clutch kit on it, and will test it on saturday at Arvika, Sweden.

Hey guys, just picked up the last 2017 CRF450r at my local dealer. The bike is night and day better than my 2015 model. I was just wondering what intervals you guys were changing oil at? I hear you need to do it more now as opposed to the older bikes which held engine and gear oil separately. Just did it with about 5 and 1/2 hours of riding time and it seemed to be fine.
