Sorry guys I've been WAY behind on the updates! I have started to play around with the bike and started to ride it in different conditions to see how it handles them. So far I've taken it to the track once and call me insane but I've even ridden this beast out on the trails twice! To sum it up, this bike is a MONSTER!! The thing is just a tank and does not stop for anything! I've taken it through just about everything, from wide open fast uphills, to tight technical single track. And to my surprise it hasn't done terrible! It is definitely too much power and is way too stiff for the tight stuff but I managed to tame it and make it work!

Oh and I also got in touch with the man behind the suspension on this bike!! JGR's own lead race team suspension tech, and original builder of this suspension, Mr. Jonny Oler!! He told me that he made these forks in house because of how much Davi Millsaps said they were so amazing in his previous years on Team Honda. He was able to get the parts from Showa because of his relationship with them, and built them in his shop at JGR. He also said that he MIGHT be able to get me a couple seals and bushings for them, but there were no promises.

And as for the shock, he said that what I have is the 3rd generation unit which was the last and most refined of them all! He said as that shock went through development it made big strides in both how it worked and its trickness factor! Apparently the only parts that are available for it are the bladder, piston o-rings, and piston band which all interchange with the OEM units.

Another thing he slipped in there was, he said that the shock even has a Titanium piston in it!!!Woohoo

I can't wait to find out more about these units from him and eventually take them apart and see whats inside for myself!!

And all this wouldn't be worth it without some crappy iPhone photos right?! Once I get it cleaned up enough I'll bust out the real camera to do this thing some justice!

Just a random Craigslist special! One of the worst Craigslist adds I've seen to be honest, TERRIBLE pictures and pretty much no real description. I bet nobody even payed attention to it on the list.... I wasn't even looking to buy a bike, but that suspension caught my eye and HAD TO go check the thing out at least!! Just a stupid lucky find!!

That's the kind of deal that only happens to others. Congrats on the find!

I would love to see pictures when you take them apart.

Uppers are not the same length and diameter, and front wheel axle is not the same. Would be a lot of work I think, and I'm sure this bike is amazing to ride even though it's an older gen.

So use the forks, wheel, and axle. Press the steering stem from a new bike onto the Kit clamps. Boom done..

Yeah it wouldn't be hard at all! I'd use the triple clamps that are matched to the forks (which will fit the newer chassis), and use the axle and wheel from this bike as well.

My original plan was to take the forks and triples and swap them with my 2012 YZ250F, but I'm considering all options and am not sure what I'm going to end up using this bike for. It might be stripped, I might keep it as is, or I might sell it as is if I get the RIGHT OFFER. I haven't weighed all my options yet.

Swapping parts is the easy part. Compensate for the shorter forks on a bike that is already way too high in the rear is the real challenge. Can be done with new uppers though.

I decided to disassemble the bike a bit to give it a much needed cleaning, and while I had the shock out I figured I'd snap some photos of for you guys!!

I found out that all of the dark grey colored adjusters are made of titanium, as well as the bushings for the upper shock mount!!! It also has these holes in the main shock body cap that leads me to believe that they are designed for some kind of spanner to grab it and screw into the body instead of pressing into it like normal shock.

Did you get any paperwork with the bike? Being that it isn't that old, I'm curious how someone gets a JGR bike and has no clue what it is. How does the story of the bike not become a selling point or get passed on. Unless someone passed away and the bike was left to a clueless person.

Okay I guess I may have phrased it wrong in my previous posts... What I meant was that he had no idea to the extent of what he had. He did know that it was a JGR bike and listed it on craigslist, but no further than just putting JGR in the title. He had no clue as to how trick everything on the bike was. He didn't know about the suspension, Ti bolts, Ti pegs, nothing... All he told me was that it had, "All the high compression pistons and stuff" and it was "super sick and crazy fast bro". LOL.

He also said that he had an original bill of sale from JGR, but had recently went through the long process of getting the bike registered and the DMV took the bill unfortunately.

Well here it is!! I was able to track down 2 sets of seals and bushings for these babies!! And as you have probably skipped ahead and looked at the picture already, I also managed to get my upper fork tubes recoated and damn do they look good!!!

I can't wait to get this stuff on the bike, and don't worry I'll be back with some photos of the internals soon!!

I think I may have found some already, I need the old style ones too though. They are everywhere with a black outline but the white outline ones are a bit harder to find.

Too much! Haha you always have to pay a little more for stuff that is so rare, not to mention the hunt to find it! I am not sure that I want to put a number on all this good stuff, but I am really starting to understand how expensive these things were for JGR to build in the first place. Does anyone know how much a brand new set of 49mm Showa A kit forks run??

I know Guy B have posted these lugs in a vital mx pits not to many years ago? I think i even saved one of the pictures on my other harddrive, i can see if i can find them.

I've been slowing down on this project recently, but I will update you guys whenever there is anything going on!

Also I will message you to see about those coatings, but the lowers on this bike look perfect. I do have some other stuff that I would like to get done so I'll contact you to talk more on that subject!
