Did I say that the desmodromic valve system would make them turn better? The facts are to make huge horse power you need RPM and sustained RPM is hard on valve springs. This is why F1 uses pneumatic valve springs, and why they are working on solenoid activated valve systems.

Did I say that the desmodromic valve system would make them turn better? The facts are to make huge horse power you need RPM and sustained RPM is hard on valve springs. This is why F1 uses pneumatic valve springs, and why they are working on solenoid activated valve systems.
I think they need to go to pneumatic because above 18k rpm they go into a harmonic bounce with the metal springs. They tried using multiple springs of various strength so the bounce would happen at different rpms but not much luck. No harmonic bounce with gas. I still think the coats spherical rotary valve is very interesting. But one has to wonder with the advancements in batteries, how many years are left before elect kicks ice ass.

If you can do simple math, the desmo valves are very easy to adjust. Havent checked the valves in my old 900 monster for about 15k miles though.
