Wisconsin girl, 14, nabbed after refusing to stop messaging
FEBRUARY 17--A 14-year-old Wisconsin girl who refused to stop texting during a high school math class was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, according to police. The teenager was busted last Wednesday at Wauwatosa East High School after she ignored a teacher's demand that she cease texting. The girl, whose name we have redacted from the below Wauwatosa Police Department report, initially denied having a phone when confronted by a school security officer. However, the phone was located after the girl was frisked by a female cop. The Samsung Cricket, the police report noted, was recovered "from the buttocks area" of the teenager. The student was issued a criminal citation for disorderly conduct, which carried "a bail of $298," and had her phone confiscated. The girl, who was barred from school property for a week, is scheduled for an April 20 court appearance on the misdemeanor rap. (4 pages)

The way I see it, texting or cell phone calls is the same as passing notes. If a kid gets caught, they should have a thing like on CSI Miami where the teacher could put the phone on a glass pad and it would project on a big screen all the text messages in the phone to be read aloud in class.
On second thought, that would probably be against the law because of all the bad language and the nude pictures of child pornography they are sending to each other.
Lousy parenting.
As far as using the things during class, around here if they catch one they confiscate the phone, and charge you $15.00 to get it back. repeat offenders go to "school jail". It's some kind of on campus suspention where they are at school, but are kept in solitary confinement for the days they are serving.
What a joke.
It's a bratty kid and an even more worked up mall cop. The mall cop way over reacted and the kid deserves some punishment for the lying part, but not to get arrested. What a joke.
It sounds like maybe the parents are divorced and the Dad got the kid a phone on his account, but that it might not be "his" phone. But that's just my interpretation.
A word to the wise was, "Don't let go of your ankles until he tells you to."

I had to go to the principles office, put my hands on his desk and look up at flag, while he gave me a swat on the ass. Then when I got home, I got a swat on the ass with one of these. It was so much easier being a kid back then.
