Stainless works pipe

Edited Date/Time 6/27/2017 11:34am
I've spent all morning looking and can't find it. I know there is a company that makes a stainless works pipe for the yz125. I like the idea of the look, without the rust lol.

I think your thinking of the aluminum one.

I wonder why more pipe makers don't make them in stainless.

Cheaper to make them out of steel and plate them.

Stainless cracks much easier than regular steel

Most stainless steels move A LOT more as they heat up and cool down too

Well how in the world do I have a works pipe without the rust?

With a rag and a can of oil.

Washed and dried well and probably coated in some degree of oil.

This is the easiest and cheapest way to remove rust...literally spray and walk away...

Scalvini makes a Titanium Cone pipe, but I haven't seen one in Stainless

Tyga is the only brand I've seen making stainless

This guy got a little carried away-

This one has about 30 minutes on it, but it started to show a little bit of rust just sitting in the garage. I wiped it down with WD-40 and it's holding up good. But the factory finish is always a pain in the ass to keep looking good. I'm about to start riding mine and I already know it's going to get trashed quickly. Sad
Stainless would be nice, but I think it might be even more brittle than Titanium with multiple heat cycles.

When I had my YZ250, I was about to pull the trigger on a Tyga stainless. Then I took a big tumble, compressed vertebrae, and broke my elbow.
While in the long recovery, I sold that bike so the Tyga wasn't meant to be...lol

Shaun....those Scalvini's hold up really nice. The toughest pipe I have ever used. After I wash my bikes up , I mist the motor and pipe with WD-40 , then take a clean blue scott's towel and wipe the pipe....she still looks like the day I bought it and I've been riding with it for over a year. I'm sticking with Scalvini....love em! And they perform really , really good!

Back in 88 when i had a KX80 i had a pro circuit pipe and a good cleaner was spray and wipe bathroom cleaner it got most of the heat stains out and only a little bit of scothbrite was required.
Fast fwd to last year on my sons KTM50 we had a HGS pipe and after every wash (after each race) i'd give it a quick once over with green scotchie and all was good.

Won't this stuff dis-color the aluminum on the frame.

People have been cleaning works pipes for years with a scotch-brite pad and some wd40. Why don't you just be a man and clean it.

Scotch-brite pad and wd-40 keeps my raw bills pipe looking good. You have to hit the chain after every wash anyway, not much more work to coat the pipe while you are at it. If you rode, then didn't wash for a couple days you will have to speed a few minutes scrubbing but even then it is not hard to get it back to original condition Imo.

While I've cleaned more raw pipes with WD-40 and a green scotchbrite than I'd like to remember, I'd rather keep my pipe looking the way it is. This is what the Scalvini looks like once you start that nonsense

This may sound nuts but I take my raw pipe off before I wash the bike, 3 bolts, 2 springs. I bought an expanding rubber plug with a wing nut that makes a perfect seal on the exhaust flange. While the pipe is off I hang it and spray it down with WD and clean the hard to reach spots. Little effort for great results, I love the way a raw pipe looks and hate chromed pipes so its a no brainer for me.
