24 riders lined up today at the South Central Regional at Freestone in the Over 50 class. The top 6 got their ticket to The Ranch. Two of them where on YZ 125's. The winner was 50 year old Michael Keating from Houston. He works at JM Racing, an engine and suspension motocross shop in Houston. Michael came from mid pack in two moto's and dead last in one. He ended up with a 3 moto sweep. Here is the coolest part. His is an '03 model! He also has a 2017 KTM350. When asked which bike he is going to race at Loretta's, he said he was undecided.

I was the other 125 out there. Mine is a '13, also modded by JM Racing. I'm 55 and ended up with a 7-4-6, for 5th overall. My best race was the second moto, where I almost pulled the holelshot and ended up 4th at the finish. I don't know about Keating's bike, but mine is 125cc, with a PC pipe and silencer, along with some cylinder work from John Mitchell at JM Racing. I have also gone up one tooth on the rear sprocket to a 49.

Oh yeah, Keating also went 1-1-1 in the Over 45 class!!!

LL's is a tight track, and IMO favors a smaller bike. Reynard almost won the 25+ class last year on a YZ125 if it wasn't for a last moto dnf from a mechanical.

Seems to me, some fella named Kevin, from Ohio, won the LL +45 a few years ago, on a Kwacker 125.

Congrats to you both. I was watching the online timing today as I know Jeff McCune who got 2nd.

Keating must have really made up a lot of ground on the first lap starting where you said he did, because the timing showed he led every lap of two of the motos.

What happened to Robbie Reynard? I saw he ran the area LLQ in 25 and 40 but never raced the Regional....did he get hurt or something??
