Finally got all of these uploaded and figured I'd post for anyone that wanted to see them. The second 250c moto is a little weird. We had such a big class that they split us into two different 250c motos, but instead of doing a main even they just took the top five from the other moto and added them to the first 250c moto, which is what is shown in the second video. I guess it was to establish somewhat of an overall winner, but I don't know it was pretty strange. Anyway here they are, that track is so much rougher than it looks in the videos it's crazy!

How was riding the "half pipe" compared to watching it on TV?
bvm111, on practice Thursday the entrance to it was insanely steep. I think a couple pros complained on press day about it though so they mellowed it out for Friday and Saturday. It has an opportunity to make a pass on the inside as you exit, but there's a good chance you're going to T-bone someone if you really drive it in, so you have to be a little smart about it. Ironically enough that was basically the only smooth part of the track that you could catch your breath on and relax for a split second. It's a lot of fun to ride though, if I wasn't racing I want to try to hit the side like I'm on my BMX and get above the "coping". Believe me when I say, arm pump was alive and well on that track, I was dying three laps in!
You nailed it on the cam warning. My buddies and I used to tape each other and when watching them back it was an eye opener. Here's a blast from the past. I did the amateur day at Hangtown in '88 and the next day Wardy and RJ were on the same track. Got tape of both days. It was like I had something wrong with the ignition, front brake locked, and sprocket bolts were loose! From then on, we always joked..."If we had better equipment, we'd be right up there with the Pro's!"
Glad to meet you and hopefully we will see each other at the track and moto soon!
I can understand why they cut the set-up out since it would be pretty easy to get landed on, but I think we easily could have handled the little pop jump in the back and the step down after, it didn't look bad to me at all. As for the cost, it's crazy but this race holds some really special meaning for me since I lost my buddy last year the day before. I figure life is short, so to be able to ride the national track and have fun camping with friends for the weekend is priceless to me and hopefully they keep it going in the future.
Great job riding/racing and an even better job with your studies. Congrats!
