I would have to say the best mod for me was the Cone Valves. I also have the Trax shock but have not ridden with it yet. A lot of things that I have done to my bike so far are mostly left overs from my 16.5 FE that I either removed before selling or had that was never installed due to an injury.

These are the things I have done so far to my 17.5FE:

1. CVs and Trax Shock
2. ECU remapped for exhaust and fuel, adjusted TPS
3. Akrapovic EVO full system, I was given a new KTM FMF can from my buddy's 250 FE and I bought a head pipe for it so will hopefully test them soon to see which I prefer. May have one or the other up for sale by the summer!
4. Neken SFS clamps - bought last year but havent tested
5. KTM Skid Plate
6. Tamer holeshot device - Digger recommended it last year and I couldn't be happier. The double button is awesome.
7. Arc memlons - They are great but show wear when you go down.
8. Two sets of wheels. I have a set of Excel A60s with Faster Hubs and a set of DID STXs with Kite Hubs
9. DID chain and Renthal sprockets
10. Renthal fatbars with stock grips
11. Couple hand fulls of titanium bolts. The stock KTM hardware looked horrible on the front end against the black CVs. Then of course you change those that leads to others.

Thanks for the input and ideas. I am getting the CV's and still undecided about the Trax at the moment, that's more of a want than need I guess. I have the FMF full TI system and the TPS tool but debating on the Twin Air Powerflow kit or just the 125/150 filter cage. I will have Tokyo Mods do the remap. Hand guards, plastic kit and graphics. Looking to get a set of wheels with orange hubs, another want more than need. I'm still looking to find a good bar and clamp set up that will help with broken wrists, collar bones and just recently a dislocated shoulder with AC and rotator tears. All this and still waiting for my bike! I leave for Honduras on Sunday but Bill says it definitely should be here by the time I get back around the 21st! In the mean time I will just continue to stock up parts!
Thanks again guys and have a great weekend!

Finally picked up the bike yesterday and went riding today. I have to say this is by far the best STOCK dirt bike I've owned! Once I get the suspension I can easily say the BEST dirt bike I've owned. I only put 1 1/2 hours on it today and played with the air in the forks and the clickers a bit. As of right now I still am not a fan of air forks. Looking forward to the CV's in the very near future!

After taking the last four years off from riding and racing, I was bored one day and said I'd get back into it and ended up with this. Got it ten days ago and have three race days logged in already. I'm looking forward to a nice practice day at the track so I can get it dialed in.

T-Fish, I really like the colors of the 250, bike looks great. I wish the TLD team would support a 450 rider similar to Geico Honda has done in the past. I know the chances of that are slim to none but would be cool to see!

Don't mind the messy garage! We are in the process of moving from Alabama to Kansas.

Thanks! Just waiting on a few more hard parts before I put everything on. The graphics were done by 139Designs, just like Digger had posted in the past, great to work with and a quality product. If there was one thing I would change it would be that the orange in the graphics were just a tad brighter, but that is just me being extremely picky. At least that's what my wife says!

I know there are other topics elsewhere on here but I would like to get knowledgeable KTM and Factory Edition owners input on this. What would any of you recommend for clamps and bars for someone that is 45 years old with bad shoulders and wrists. I mainly ride MX with the occasional trail ride, occasional being once a year maybe.
Right now I am recovering from a dislocated shoulder and a small tear in the cuff. I'm still waiting for my FE but ordering parts, I am already getting the CV's, but am still looking for clamps and bars. Any input would be great. I would also say that I am in good physical shape and eat well. I realize that is the best place to start.
I use these carbon composite bars - the most flexible ones: http://www.twistedengineering.com

I got them first for my old 250SX because the vibration from that thing would make my hands go numb after 10 mins. They are a little odd feeling on the first ride cos they remove all the small vibration and bumps and kinda smooth out the track so you lose some front end feedback, but after 30 mins I loved them esp since I've had one shoulder surgery and tore my other rotator cuff a year ago. The only downside is they're not cheap.

Cheers

I went with the most flexible ones. I race Vet B - did 40+ Loretta's last year. I'm faster in my mind than I am on the track :-)

How do they hold? I'm curious with crashes that rip the grip up, if they grind down at all. $400 is steep for those things but they look impressive. If you were to buy them again, would you get a stiffer flex? I'm currently running neken sfs clamps and wonder if I would notice a difference.

I use lock-on grips and have never ground the grip plastic down to see the bar ends. However, I wrecked my bike a couple years back - 3rd gear on a trail and ended up cartwheeling the thing and the bars snapped. Pretty sure any bars I had would have been toast too though. I'd go with the same flex since when I got used to them I really liked them and I'm happy to sacrifice a bit of front end feeling for less arm-pump and happier shoulders.

Dang. It would be interesting to see what all the retail prices of this stuff would add up to. $20,000 with cost of the bike?

Did you order Polisport ones? Acerbis are few and far between for some weird reason?

Only current option is to paint the stockers. Those polisport from RMATV are horrible looking and performing.

Amazing that after 3 years of this chassis that nobody sells the orange louvers that the teams run. Are they just painting them also?

I had the KTM part number for the orange ones but it is a discontinued item. I believe Digger said he was able to snag a set during their limited availability.

Hey guys, can anyone with the 17.5 450 confirm what shock spring comes stock?
I ordered a lighter spring for my 16FE (ordered 45-247) and received 45-260, local KTM dealer claims the 260 is replacing the 247.
Can't find any info on the spring online so hoping someone can check for me before I install it.

Cheers

Simon, do you run those TE bars with the stock clamps? I have the SFS clamps, PHDS and FLEX bars (off the old Yamaha). I want to try multiple set ups to find the best one for my situation so I was curious about your clamps.
