CR 125 build

Thanks!

Got an first order with engine parts on my way here of 84 (!) Pieces for it. And then I'm still missing a complete clutch, probably some gearbox gears and so on.

Got my oval exhaust flange also, will see what holes I need to use for springs, then I will mill off the other holes on the flange.

Got a good price on scalvini exhaust also, still undecided if I should go with the scalvini silencer, or bud. Maybe I get both to try in the Dyno..Smile

Let me know what performance gains the oval shaped exhaust flange adds.

Have been considering Boyesen version but wasn't sure if it was worth the $ 100 price tag

Keep up the good work. Currently Half way through my 02 cr125 build as well.

Have never started this bike so I won't know what it does, probably same as oem. Just (hopefully) no leaking spooge and better durability Smile

Thanks!

Wait what's the deal with this oval flange? I'm not too concerned about performance, but does it actually offer a better seal with the pipe than the stock Honda flange? The stock setup with Honda O-ring are absolute garbage and keeping spooge from escaping.

Its sealed with more o-rings than stock.

Got my dunlop 952s yesterday.
But i also got this..

Broke my radius, and beat up my shoulder pretty bad. Highsided a wave-section om my 250f.

Will weigh and compare the tires this weekend.

Thanks!

Oh! Also got my Scwalbe fat bike innertubes. 396gr!

Just waiting on my liteloc rim locks, and weigh and compare my rim strips vs the weight of motion pro rim strips.

Who do you recommend doing my suspension here in scandinavia? Im from norway, and i havent heard of any companies doing suspension here. But in sweden i have heard of RG3, and öhlins (not sure if they do service).

I run with rg3 myself!

Very happy with Mats work and he always answer the phone, and I'm "just" a intermediate rider. Always open for my suggestions to rework etc.

Personally I would stay away from kumlins.
But there are loads of them!

Some tire issues.

Mitas c-18 in 80/100-21 and 100/90-19 total weight is 8419 gr. 3464gr/4955gr.

Dunlop d-952 in 80/100-21 and 100/90-19 total weight is 8527 gr. 3783gr/4744gr.

So mitas are 108gr lighter. But it's more a mid/soft tire.
Have never ridden the Dunlops, so I can't justify the weight over feel.. I might have to try them on my 250f.

But it's "only" 108grams, so the better idea is to go with the Dunlops I think! It will only be ridden on hardpack and I get to use the Dunlop tire stickers Grinning the steering damper weighs more..

What's your opinion on Dunlops?

Dunlop

Mitas

I've used Dunlop for over 20 years, I think they are good, definitely better than mitas. Just take a crap before you go ride, probably save more than 108 grams.

There is a reason no pros runs mitas over Dunlop.

Dunlops product development/testing, would be 10x mitas. They may be 100g heavier, but I'm sure they have produced that tire at that weight for best overall performance and durability for most riders.

I'm using bridgstone this year for the first time in my life. See how that goes.

so true. Go with dunlops.

But the easiest thing to save weight would be to get that stupid cerakote stripped and that heavy powdercoated frame back to bare alu, but again im kind of a big time racist against black aluminium frames or any painted alu frame for that matterLOL. just saying not hating consider you put so much time and money in scaling the weight down. Nice build and bike. great work !

off topic...

IM SURE SOME OF MY FRIENDS HERE WILL HAVE A WORD WITH ME NOW, COMING CLEAN WITH MY TOUGHTS ABOUT COATED ALU FRAMES OR HARSH WORDS ABOUT CERAKOTE HAHAHAHA Smile

4/23/2017 7:46am
Yeah I'm going for the Dunlops. Maybe I switch on my 250f also Laughing

I know about the frame, but I happen to like the black framesWink

And if I'm going with the Alu look, I need to find a better (more low hour) frame because this have some imperfections.

A nice Alu frame are version 2.0 when it's time to not ride this thing anymore Smile it's too much work keeping it looking new if you ask me, if course the black will rub. But anyways, I powdercoat the frame for 20$ Smile

And how much weight that have been added I don't know, wish I had scaled it up before.. sandblasted (wich removes material) twice before paint Smile

I could also shave 186 grams not running the hpsd unit and probably 1500gr with air forks, but I also want to build it like I want It, well see how close to my weight goal I'm getting at first try Cool Grinning

Rim strips and liteloc arrived! Getting help this weekend to get some Dunlops on it, since I have an broken wrist.

Engine-parts, apart from the clutch and some gearbox gears, this should be it..Cool

This is "all" you need to bolt together an 125 engine, apart from the oil drain bolt and clutch springs bolts.

Roughly 60 pcs of nuts and bolts, Mettec coming thru with awesome help with special sizing Cool
Have organized all of them in Ziploc bags for the engine builder, getting there.. Silly

5/6/2017 2:52pm
I'll just leave this here..Cool
Sat on her for the first time, felt good! Woohoo And I could feel a huge difference regarding the feel of the rear suspension just by sitting on it.

Hard to explain, but the rear titanium spring feels more "linear" and smooth in some kind of way..

Nevertheless, this got me exited about ripping this thing!!

Summary about the wheels:

Tcr coated oem hubs
Excel rims
Stainless spokes with aluminium nipples
Irp saw tooth rotors 280/240mm
Titanium disc and sprocket bolts
Dunlop tires
Fat bike innertubes
Motion pro liteloc
Motion pro ultralite rim strips.

So, i talked about raw steel and carbon.
Here it is!

Fitment is good, hard to tell when engine is "mocked up" only. But it went on easily.
Switching out the hardware to titanium now that I know what lenghts to use.

Probably buying some more pipes and silencer later on to see what works best on the dyno. And weight.

Bit late to the story.
Just read from start to finish while on night shift.
Absolutely awesome.
So much titanium. Shame over here in WA they have banned it's use in certain areas on the bike.

Thanks for cheering!

Have had some bad luck lately, broke my wrist as you may know, took of the cast last Friday and went straight to a race (series) managed to qualify to the B-finals after 4 weeks off the bike, got run over first lap of the final and broke my ankle.. ran the whole 20 min final with broken foot..

So back to cast and 5 more weeks off the bike..Sad

At least I looked good before the race..

At least I got my tire stickers, huge thanks to my source who wants to be secret.Smile also got an boyesen rad valve on order.
