HOLD UP.

Is this Redline the same Redline(Same looking R Logo) that used to be in So. Cal, moved to Minnesota all in the late 90s-early 2,000's time era?
This is the same redline that made a failed attempt at snowmobiles, the buggies and now these bikes.Laughing

Are you sure about that? They were a dealership in Tacoma, WA until a couple months ago. I tried to buy a bike from them and the dude acted kinda like a tweaker over phone and text. I was ready to go and buy cash if he could've told me an OTD price. Never got back to me after quite a few texts & I wasn't low-balling him. next thin it's relisted for $1k more on CL.............A month or so later posted they were closing doors and just building bikes............I remember the Redline sleds they were a cool concept........

Yep... still tweekers. Lol. Thought those redline single seated side by sides were sweet too, until I seen all the fabrication and welding.... glorified Honda Pilots is all they were....

Post for AJ -

Can you point me toward some new radiator hoses? I want to put some silicone radiator hoses on my 2003 CR500AF (based upon the 2002 CR250R), and I don't know if the ones on there are stock or were for the 250, the 500 or some combination of the two, or were just custom made. You can hit me up by email at dtaylor@conceptsystemsinc.com. I bought the bike from you back in the day new when you were Mr. Service Honda, and my Dad rode it, got mad at me for a while for having a better bike than him, then bought a 2005 from you and rode it until he left this world. I gave the 2005 to my cousin like the heirloom it is (being fathered by a four stroke, it's soul wasn't pure enough for me) and it is a garage queen/fun machine for him now. My hoses are fine, just want some more bling. I am thinking yellow.

Build your own, I say to people.

There are now quite a few kits you can buy to do numerous AF types, if you are not a fabricator. Some cutting, and little more than 20 /25 inches (if that) of weld bead and it's done. I've made many over the years, refuse to do any more as a general rule, but every now and then I have friends corner me. I direct them to the various kit builders, correct the problems I have with the kits, do the job and hand them back to them. With a friendly boot to their arses, and, "we're square now" ringing in their ears. Woohoo

It's never been rocket science, despite what many of those that make money from AF'ing try to make it out to be - indeed, most of those do dreadful work.

The best I've ever seen, have been done by private individuals. The most consistently dreadful ones - well, they appear on this site - or at least his disatisfied / ripped off customers do, fairly often.

My (very) cursory research on the 17 CR450 that I've done, places the lowered shock mount / frame cross over right where the carb sits - so that might be a real 'stop' to new generation CR AFs.
Not finished in this pic, but it is now.

500cc 2T's are way overrated IMO.

Of course they are.

What do you expect of such ancient engines?

Hell, as I constantly say, a CR500 is only a few steps above a BSA Bantam Engine in technology. By the way, I ride one - a CR500, that is.

A KX500 is far more modern, but, put both on the same dyno, and you'll find buggerall difference, as they are both at such a low state of tune.

But, I like /love them both.

Axe reliable (if taken care of - hell, they are so old now, even 'young ones' like mine), basic engines. Very basic with the KX engines, incredibly basic with the CR.

That they can still be put up against a 450F, with all of the development put into 4ts in the last few decades, should make people wonder just how far things have come. Decades old engines should be a laughable thing to put up against modern 4ts, but it's not quite the case

Think just what we could have had from 2ts if the rules hadn't been so thoroughly written to favour 4ts.

We are just seeing the first real, semi substantial change with the 2018 TPIs (well, put on the new base module of the 2017 250 /300 - and of course KTM had their new 125/150 module in 2016)) Yet there are so many 2t 'fans' decrying it. Without that sort of thing (and Sherco and Beta coming out with their new 2ts in the last few years, and their and TMs ongoing commitment to 2 strokes), 2ts Will disappear.

To me, the perfect bike engine would be a 350 /400cc modern 2 stroke. But, since it's such an easy earner for companies, I think we'll just see the over- bored 250s = 300s.

Honda is not the only one who can machine gears and cast cases and build cylinders, to build engines. There are a lot of VERY competent machinists out there who COULD build a complete 500 cc power valved engine that could Rival anything that Honda sends out for sale.

I am not insinuating that this may be cost effective or cheap......but it could be done.

Years ago my buddy who rebuilds old Harley board racers needed a couple of connecting rods for a hand built factory Harley motor that he was restoring and there were no part numbers for the parts let alone parts available.

I believe he finally found a guy in Sweden that hand built those rods for him for that bike......I don't remember exactly what he paid that dude but I believe it was Thousands for EACH one.

It can be done......
I've already made direct replacement billet CR500 cases, they are on ebay. I also have cr500 billet water pump covers , cr125 exhaust valve springs, etc made, and In stock.
In the middle of working on other parts that honda has discontinued on the cr500, cr250, cr125.
Transmission collars, 4th gear countershaft, shift forks, etc.
I certainly don't lack things to do , i lack time to do them all at once.lol

Fuck off tomac. Win on a cr500 if you think you are real man. If you dont speak up you will axe yourself soon.

I am right.
