Wind a bolt in behind it from the other side and you should be able to gently tease it out. Did this for someone that did exactly the same thing. If that fails a left hand drill bit and a slow speed setting on the drill.
Ah, thanks. I didn't know it was a trough hole. That's by far the best option. I'll be giving that a shot when I can. As for frame guards I'm struggling to find a set of metal ones. I have the plastic ones but they are a bit shabby.

Hi guys, small update. Got my clutch bolt sorted. Drilled a small hole in the bolt and it just turned out no bother. Must have been a weak bolt. Got some goodies from kawasaki, new radiator guards, new brake pedal spring, stI'll waiting on new frame protectors, some frame protectors clutch bolts and a rear reseviour. Eventually got some pressure in the back brake but think I'll have to re do it as the reseviour has damage. Got me some blue hoses, as I couldn't get green or black. Not sure how?? And for my little project I'm making a sprocket cover out of carbon fibre. I'm no designer but I'm giving it a shot. Will also be doing my rear chain slider in carbon too. Let me know what you think.

I remember those Kawasaki front brake calliper a were notorious for being hard to bleed, also notorious for always having spongy front brakes.
What I used to do was once the brake line was full. Take the reservoir cap off also the rubber diaphragm that sits on top..
Whilst literally just flicking the front brake lever, rather than pumping it through its whole range of motion, smack th brake line rapidly with a spanner from bottom to top.
When you try to just bleed the fluid through the bottom bleeder when there is still heaps of air...it just doesn't work.
Flicking the lever whilst smacking the brake line tickles the air out through the master cylinder.
However shitty spongy front brakes were a fact of life on those old kx's. Only real cure is a Honda master cylinder and braided brake line

I wish I could find a reasonably priced old bike for a project.
I dunno where the hell they all went????
Once upon a time you could pick up a copy of the Melbourne trading post and see literally hundreds of old dirt bikes.
I have a theory that since the trading post stopped their print edition and switched to online.. Maybe they are technophobes, maybe they don't have computers.but people with fifteen to thirty year old dirt bike don't seem to advertise them for sale anymore. I can't find anything on the online sites like gumtree or bikesales of that era, unless it has already been done up as a viper class bike...not unusual to have to pay $5 to 7 k for a thirty year old bike! Actually just looked at an 85 model kx125 ..it was $8,500!!
There must be thousands of old motocross bikes out there somewhere gathering dust and rust, but how to find them?

Try Facebook, there's a few moto pages where a few bargains show up.

I've tried buy swap and sell dirt bikes Victoria on Facebook but nothing much comes up.
Do you know of any other face book pages I might try?

Think ones called 2 Stroke And 4 Stroke Bikes buy/Parts/Swap Australia Wide or something.

I found my 99 KX on a Perth Facebook group and my 91 YZ by putting a wanted ad on Gumtree

Ok thanks, I will have a look at those.
I wish to Christ that I'd just kept some of my old race bikes from back in the day...used to get one or even two new ones a year through the 80's and 90's....always really looked after them , but could never sell a one year old bike for even half what I paid for it....used mx bikes were a dime a dozen and super hard o sell.
Now if you have a mid 80' s mx bike of any kind , even a wreck , you hung a couple of grand on it and some dill buys it.
Was just looking at an 81 model cr 450... Asking price was $5.5k Shocked dShocked Shocked
One of the worst bikes of all time....shoulda rang the guy and told him he's dreaming!

Wish like anything I'd kept this bike, 81 cr 125 , first of the water cooled jobs...what a year that was with all the water cooled single shock linkage suspension bikes released that year...
I was 16 ....what an awesome time to be sixteen!
In reality the Suzuki was in another league , the suspension was light years better..
But I was an apprentice bike mechanic at a Honda dealer....
My brother had one just like it, he also had the 1980 twin shock model....Jesus don't I wish I had that today as wellBlink

I started riding in 90 so all my fond memories are of the 90's mx bikes.

Side note that doesn't help at all, there's a 98 kx250 in bits on Perth Gumtree for $500 Ono

Hi guys, so the bike has been completed. For now. Still some small bits needing attention. Yesterday was the first time out on the bike. Just doing some enduro at a local track. The bike fired up okay then died after a while idling. New plug and it was good to go. However. After a full day riding I noticed some collant on the head, managed to track it back to the top of the radiator, once I got the bike home and cooled down for hours I popped the radiator cap and it was under a fair bit of pressure.... any ideas as to why this is happening? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Likely a head gasket, or in your case maybe oring issue. Be the likely source anyhow.

Hi guys, new to vital. All the way from Scotland. Picked up this KX 125 2000 for £400. Had been sat for years untouched due to engine problems. I started this a few months ago and just decided to start a thread. Most of the work is now done. I don't have a lot of time so slow progress. I'll be posting more pictures later on and a list of things that have been done. This was day one.

If you're not using the Splitfire seat cover I'd like to buy it. I also have PC parts to trade for your build as well. PC on the fly perch, WC water pump guard, magnesium ignition cover, skid plate, frame guards, pc bar clamp and other goodies, Get ahold of me, Email: kwade220@gmail.com
