Buddy of mine was visiting Mammoth, decided to hike up the trails that take you to the backside of the facility. While he was there he managed to snag a few shots that I figured some would find pretty cool.
Never seen Mammoth MX under water before...looks like the Mammoth crew have their work cut out for themselves!

Oh, and just because you can ski and race in the same weekend, you shouldn't. You really can't do either effectively if you try to do both - but by all means bring your fishing poles!
If that track wasn't on the Eastern slope, there would still be 25 feet of snow on it.
There will be snow till it starts snowing again.
If it was further West, the road getting to it would still look like this.

They used to have all kinds of snowmobile racing around there as well.
Snocross on the track, hill climbs, cross country 100-200 milers, drag races, radar runs, even slalom course races just like on skis. It brought in a TON of Money to that town.
It was always a battle with the greenies and USFS though.
Every year I'm shocked the Motocross still happens, especially when they tried to shut it down years ago, but the Motocross is like an icon of that town. The businesses need it, it's pretty sleepy in summertime.
It would almost be like getting rid of Wooly.
Once the sun hits it, it gets dry real fast.
The Only reason there is water standing is because the Sierras got shit tons of rain before it turned to snow, and more snow, and more snow and more snow. So everything was super saturated before.
There is single digit humidity also so it will go away pretty fast.
If you are not already qualified for this year's event I strongly suggest giving it a go next year. It's the best race I've ever been to.

If it is, he posted a picture on instagram from the top of the hill also. Looks like a lot of water for them to get rid of! I'm sure it won't be an issue though

Track should be good this weekend after all the water and the dusting that they got a few days ago. Wish I was racing this year.
