DLC is done Woohoo

Very nice! I'm thinking about to send my tubes and shock piston to dlc, do they require a certain surface prior to dlc? I have a few small pits and scratches on the tubes and some rust on the bottom of the shock piston (not on the part that travels trough the shock seal)

Hey mate, yeah the chrome had to be in really good condition they might have to re chrome them, they are more inclined to do TiN on older stuff but still needs to be really good, mine had 15hrs on them and they hesitated I said I'll take the risk...

Ok, thanks for the input! What will the result be if you do it on old tubes? Does the dlc not last or is it just that the surface will uneven like it was before?

Heh mate, the DLC can peel as it doesn't attach to the surface as well.

Awesome job with those forks!

Would be interested in the final cost of the forks. I think I read your were gona valve them yourself? Obviously that will save a couple of bucks.

Cheers for the kind words boys.

So costing looks like this in AUD

DLC, Kashima, Ano lugs, SKF seals and postage one way $1595.76
KYB Billet fork lugs Ti hardware $ 682.22
Machining and polishing of tubes $ 300.00 although I didn't pay for this.

So say $2577.98AUD

Unless you're an A grade rider I wouldn't bother with the money for an A-kit. If you want some improved suspension and trick looking stuff just get the fork outer tubes done in Kashima, I've got the contacts for the guys that do my consignment orders all the time if you're interested let me know. It cost roughly AU$130 per part.
They also do DLC/TI-N/Ano lugs etc etc
Hey stevo I'm heading down the path of kashima coating the forks and shock in my cr 125 . Email me at liambladen@hotmail.com
I'd like to know more
Thanks

That's a load of crap, I'm just fitting parts, nothing build worthy. (yet) A hell of a lot more work and effort has gone into your YZ.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the YZ I think it still looks good even with no major updates besides the plastics in the last couple of years, a little bit like the RMZ. Plus the bike performs quite well.

Think I might keep an eye out for a cheap one to build up.

Extremely good looking build. The flush cap carbon tank is in a league of it's own. Total drool worthy.
