Just curious if anyone out there know's how his recovery is coming along. It's been a while since I've heard any news. I know he was standing on his own at one of Carmichael's nascar races, there was a picture of that. He is my favorite rider of all time for many, many reasons. A true class act on, and off the track.

"Standing on his own" is not quite accurate.
He has braces and has to hold himself up, as he was in that photo, using the handrail

Thanks for the clarification, it has been a while since I've seen that picture.

The last time I spoke with one of Doug's buddies they said that he is continuing to work on rehab.
The use of his legs without the braces has not happened yet but not surprisingly Doug is still working towards the ultimate goal of walking on his own again.

He has modified all of his farm equipment so that he can take care of "the chores" and has been working on the day to day stuff.
As some of you may know Stacy had some health battles of her own but they are about the strongest two folks you will ever meet.

I'll see if I can find out anymore recent news and will post it here if I do.

Thank you jndmx. Nothing can stop that guy, a true inspiration. I hope all goes well with him, and his wife.

One of my favorite moto memories is Doug damn near lapping the field, including McGrath (I think he did lap Jeremy), in a freaking Texas hailstorm - no BS. it was hailing - to win his first SX at Texas Stadium in 1995. It was a complete grease-slick mudfest. You could'nt tell who was who and SeaDoos would have been better choices (like Daytona last year). Couldn't even make out the colors of the bikes. But there's DH, the only guy jumping anything, including both triples, hauling ass and looking good doing it.

I sent him the original of my pic of his fist pump over one of the triples on the last lap from that race while he was rehabbing from his Budd's getoff.

Class act and true gentleman.

Shows his strength, winning in a hailstorm, lapping legends like mcgrath, no wonder he has been able to put so much into his rehab and achieve what he has..

That was the coolest mudder of all times DH went down a few times but still got back on to win by miles. Might have to drag out the 95 SX review VHS just to watch it again.
