Hey everyone! This is my first post on vital and thought might as well start it off with my first ever bike build...well dirt bike that is...idk how everyone feels about atv moto on here but that is my roots and for some reason I really wanted a bike mind you next to zero experience on one but hey whatever that's the fun part.. so my bike of choice in this venture happened to be a $200.00 clapped out 97 yz125..

Well.since my first post cut way short...my goal for the bike is to make it back to new with out breaking the bank not doing a replica build build either. Luckily for me I am a professional powdercoater and I also have a atv repair shop with access to dealer pricing. Sadly as much as I like the navy blue it's not the direction I'm going in so if anyone is interested i would be interested in selling the tank which is in decent shape and getting the reflex blue tank which if anyone has one please message me thanks

Good luck on the build. I'm in the middle of 1986 RM 125 that I picked up for $ 300.00 bucks. I figured I would put $ 1000.00 in a be able to ride it. Well sad thing is the bike was on the original bore with new piston and the jack off put the piston in backwards. So i went ahead and will do the whole tear down with powder coating and all. I'm hoping to be at $ 2200.00 total when done. LOL

Yah I'm figuring it will need some cash just by looking at it but at least I'm saving myself money with being able to powdercoat myself

Will you media blast the frame after stripping ? just curious. Great bike, and have fun on the rebuild, hard to believe it's 20 year's old.

Yes I will sand blast it afterwards..there will still be paint residue on it but it makes a couple hours sandblast job into about 15min process..

All the primer and paint you see on there once it dries will basically fall right off and get blown off with a airgun maybe this weekend I can sandblast it and do get it powdercoated

Does anyone know if a 2001 yz250f tank will work on my 97?!

Probably not seem exact fit. But it might be possible to make mount points for it
