Lets be honest about this, Chad made no difference to the end result of the race. Sure he cost the fans a little hope of a good race but thats it, it made no difference. The gap dropped to 1.6 at one point as they was going through lappers, and had gone back up to 1.9 when Dungey caught Chad. Then Dungey followed Chad for 3 laps, he didn't pass Chad. Remember this, Chad pulled to the left and went wide before the tunnel and looked to his right and let Dungey by.

So Dungey didn't make a pass. Gap 4.1 when got past and went up every lap after that. Now think about this, he couldn't pass the 16th place lapped guy for 3 laps till he let him by. How do you expect him to pass the 1st place guy whos actually trying. So all this griping is just a storm in a teacup. So no more Chad threads please lol.
Momentum, latching on to a wheel, seeing lines, applying pressure etc... all make a difference. It's completely ignorant to say Chad made no difference in the outcome of the race. While it's true that he may have had a hard time passing Tomac, you can't deny that Dungey had the pace until Reed got his stupid ego involved. Fans have every right to be upset that they didn't get to see what was shaping up to be a great race. Simple as that.

And Eli has yet to beat Dungey for a title. And that's all that really matters at the end of the day.

I never have said or typed the word that he caught him. I did say he was catching him. Nor have you ever me say or type the results would have been different if wasn't for Reed. We all know if Reed didn't get in the way Dungey may have finished closing in on him. Go look at Tomacs laps times. He didn't get faster like some people have come to think he did when Dungey WAS catching him.

You know just as well as I know if that never happen with Reed . Dungey And Tomac would of had a battle to the finish .

Dungey is just lucky Marvin laid up and let him go all night. That look Tomac was giving him in the post race press conference when he was lying about why he fell back off the pace. Priceless. Laughing Laughing

True that! Reed kinda helped Tomac but Marvin is totally helping Dungey! He laid back he was way faster then Dungey!

If he couldn't get around twotwo how was he going to get around 3?
"The track was so one lined that I couldn't pass Reed and he needed to move out of the way". Was Tomac going to do the same?

Can you show us on the lap times how he was faster? I wasn't at the race so I can say i saw in laying up. I can look at lap times and see Dungey did pull away. Marvin's lap times are probably the most consistent on the night....

Where you are going wrong is assuming he was going to pass Tomac. Thats the problem with all of this. Everyone has said he Was catching him .

Btw, Reed did move over for Tomac. You must not have watched the same race I did. They even spoke about it on live tv as it was happening....

As I said previously, looking at things realistically, that could very well change by the end of this supercross season, but hey nothing is set in stone, anything can happen.

Dungey lost the race period and if anyone thinks for a minute that Dungey should get into take out moves with Reed umm that wouldn't be a good idea Reed has nothing to lose Dungey should do all he can to stay clear of Reed lol because if Reed held Dungey up as a lapper it's game on if they are on the same lap and it's for position! No one should be pulling over for anyone if your on the same lap it's called Racing find a way around if your the faster rider!

Of course none of it matters because of all the bias/single minded only want to criticize the guy. They don't want to acknowledge the real facts.

Kinda like that assumption you on the first page of the thread. How do you know he was nervous about Marvin saying so called lies ? Maybe he was pissed about what happen on the track? I am just assuming like you are. My assumption seems to be a little more realistic than yours.

In the heat race it was almost sad how bad Marvin was laying up. He almost ran over dungalo a few times lol. So one would think he coulda gave it to him in the main also. Maybe not, but I can't imagine he got that much slower an hour or so later on the same track he was just killing it on.

Absolutely. It might happen. Tomac is riding amazingly well right now. But discrediting Dungey is just stupid.

How many riders have been good in heat races and went on to the main to do nothing? How many times have we see guys go the wrong way with setup? Marvin turned the same times in the main as he did the heat race. Just throwing that out there.

Good point. But the heat race was a joke for sure. Ricky talked about it happening.

Here you go assuming again. Im just stating that facts. If you want to take that as I'm taking this more serious than you, keep assuming.

These threads are becoming a joke. Why? Because people don't want to comprehend the facts about what REALLY happen. You make threads like this even more of a joke my saying false things.

Who is debating he may have, he should have, or he could have? In your own post you said none of these things mattered because of how the raced played out.

So by that statement are you admitting that he may have not wanted to take a risk of losing all of his points lead by going down, he shouldn't have done anything stupid, and he could have maybe pressed the issue but knew REED wasn't going to give him and spare room to make a safe pass.?

its the heat race. The main is the real race. That all that matters. Marvin didn't get in anyones way nor block any riders. Thats the real point here.

Yes, I'll stand by the fact that it doesn't matter, because what's done is done.
Dungey would probably agree, and I'm sure his focus is on the next race, as that does matter.

So you really believe ET, was just going to roll over like MM25 did? No way RD was going to pass ET. You can't pass Reed for 3 laps, but the race leader going for the tithe will let you by?

No one's saying he would have passed Eli. I don't believe he would have either. But Dungey was robbed of the opportunity to at least try. And who knows, he may have pressured Eli into making a mistake. You don't know nor do I.

And your logic is actually stupid. Actually, beyond stupid. Realistically, no one has a chance to even win a main event other than Tomac, Dungey, Musquin and MAYBE Anderson. So by your logic, no one else should even be given the opportunity. So basically, why is Reed, Bogle, Grant, Seely, Millsaps etc etc etc even out there racing? Seriously, how you can't see why this is an issue is beyond me. Over 70% of fans along with race officials felt it was an issue. So believe it or not, you're wrong. Reed got what he deserved and he lost a ton of respect from fans. Go ahead and keep saying Dungey wouldn't have passed Tomac because it's 100% irrelevant. It still would have been an issue if Musquin and Anderson were battling for 3rd and Reed did it to one of them. It's still a dick head move that deserves punishment.

No, he doesn't just "let you by". However, both riders have everything to lose in that case and Dungey wouldn't expect a bone headed T-bone like you have to expect from Reed. If Dungey was going to have any chance of passing Tomac there would have been some roughness and paint trading. You shouldn't have to play rough when lapping though. The choice not to do so was probably what kept RD on two wheels to score 22 points. If he runs it in deep on Reed there is a strong chance Reed acts the fool and takes them both down.

wtf are you talking about? Who said anything about Tomac rolling over? No one. Just you. None of us know what might have happen of reed didn't get in the way. Tomac may or may not have pulled away. Tomac may or may not have crashed. Tomac may or may not have gotten passed. Dungey may or may have not been able to keep the Faster pace he was running. Dungey may or may have not crashed. Dungey may or may have not passed Tomac and won.

These are all things no-one knows. So stop assuming things. Come back to earth and check the facts.

Do you really think if Dungey couldn't pass a lapper he was going to pass Tomac? There's no way Tomac or Roczen would've been stuck behind Reed that long. Reed definitely didn't move out of the way but Dungey has some accountability in not being able to get by him.

actually that's exactly why I think dungey will retire. he said in a recent press conference that he hated it when rv beat him all the time and he just wanted to quit. well, tomac is doing the same that rv did to dungey - dominating. and I don't think dungey can be bothered to go down that road again.

Reading comprehension. I said that it's true that Dungey may have had a hard time passing Tomac.

Dungey continuing to close the gap would have helped his mentality/riding and pressured Tomac. Thus, a lot of things could have happened differently if Reed didn't do what he did. That's all I am saying. I responded to a guy saying Chad made no difference in this race. That is simply untrue. He made a negative difference because of his ego and as a fan of racing, I'm pissed about it. I was looking forward to seeing a great race.

As far as Dungey's accountability, yes, I agree. He had a choice on how much he wanted to force it. I wasn't involved in that decision-making process but if it were me, I would be hesitant to get aggressive with an unhappy Chad Reed with nothing to lose. The bottom line though, is Dungey shouldn't have been put in a situation where he had to make that decision. Reed was a lapped rider, who intentionally broke the rules, to disrupt another rider's race and championship hunt. I don't care who it is or what someone else could have done differently to limit the damage, that is completely unacceptable in my opinion.
