Anyone have any luck using headphones in their helmet? I saw they made a wrap around headband deal i think called syphon but they were crazy expensive.

Ive used the small earbuds before but it ends up being more distracting than anything, once i got my helmet on they were barely in my ears and hurt like hell

Tried it once, but like you with earbuds. The fit was fine, but I had to get myself a new mp3 player once I picked myself up from the ground. And new earbuds too. Free/trail riding might be ok, but on the track it's too distracting.

Theirs a guy, we all know, who rides with music. If you watch him, he'll change song over the triple sometimes. Just practice, not at the ama races.

I think the new iPhone earbuds work great with helmets. They are pretty discreet. I hook the cord up to an older style iPod nano and can set the length of time for my Moto. It will tell you how long you have left and works perfectly.

When I ride, I want to get away from EVERYTHING. I want to be out on the track or the trails and riding, hearing my bike, and other bikes. I like to be able to listen for anything going wrong too. Personally music is a distraction on a dirtbike or MTB. However, that is me. For my street bike, I have a SENA BT Headset installed on my helmet. It can be a phone, music player or an intercom to other SENA riders from long range. Its pretty cool and I often toyed with using on my off-road helmet for the intercom function to be able to communicate with my buddies when we take a wrong trail and get split up or there is a hazard to watch out for, or simply to say hey we need a break or gas.

I think it might work, but keep in mind you risk your phone being damaged whenever you ride. I would keep it in a Camelback pocket or maybe in your boot? You can play music, you can make calls, you can use voice commands to control it. It can do all the things you can do with your phone back at the office!

Why would I want that when I am out on my Dirt Bike having fun! On the street, yeah I find it useful at times. And I like to play loud music on the Harley over the sound system, so I can relate to you on that. However, most of the time, when on any bike I want my phone off and hear the engine, wind and road. Thats just me.

Keep on riding and be safe.

Sometimes I'll go on a quick trail ride after work or on the weekend by myself and I'll throw some headphones in. The factory iphone ones work fine for me. Just have to stretch the sides of the helmet out with your thumbs to get it over them initially. If I'm at the track or riding with anyone else I don't listen to music I'd rather be more aware of my surroundings.
