He posted on a public forum asking strangers for money due to his poor decisions...he's gonna get lectured and rightfully so. It's stupidity like this that has become the norm in today's society. Life is all about choices...if you make poor choices, it isn't everyone else's responsibility to bail you out (despite what liberals tell you). Jeff will be 28 this month...time to grow up.

Just curious on what health insurance cost you? If you don't mine sharing with me. Im just curious, because I know that you would never see all the pro SX/MX riders create a union, but if all the privateers did to get insurance and other things like transportation, etc.

Last time I was at last years Ironman Indiana National I was talking to a few privateers and some of the guys helping out washing bikes and stuff out of a Rig. I asked how come all of these different riders are all under the same tent? I was told there was a guy sponsoring some of the privateers travel to each race. Maybe all privateers go on strike and don't race and present a legal document of what you guys want at least paid health Insurance. It would be a start maybe eventually a set pay that is way more then you guys are getting now for risking your life everyday you are practicing and training for the race on Saturday.
Yeah they need to refuse to race that will show them they mean business Woohoo Woohoo Woohoo

I can only comment on MN, but I would expect it to be similar in every state since the ACA is national. In MN, a person with a $35k-40k income pays around $55/mo for insurance with $0 annual deductible; $15 co-pay for Office Visits; $6 co-pay for RX; $50 co-pay for ER (excluding ambulance service); $150 co-pay for In-patient care.

A person with a $20k income pays ~$0/mo with same out of pocket costs described above.

Not sure how / where you got those numbers. I just went to healthcare.gov, they sent me to the link below for MN, I input information for a 38 year old male making 35k a year, the cheapest plan was $216 a month with 6950 deductible....that includes a $79 monthly subsidy. That was the lowest bronze plan, they only go up from there.

silver plans get bigger subsidy, bronze and gold not good way to go

.
Sully22, In response to question, you just have to have someone helping you out that knows how the system works. Just like ctbale said, the silver plan is the plan that has the tax credits as well as subsidized lower out of pocket costs.

The law says you can not pay more than 9.5% of your modified adjusted gross income towards your healthcare. So the lower the income, the lower your premium and the lower your deductibles/coinsurance/co-pays and total out of pocket costs. Take advantage of the law if you qualify for it. There are no medical questions asked anymore and it doesn't matter what you do for a living, it's not life insurance, it's heath insurance.

yea sully, DW hit the nail on the head, you gunna pay the 9.5% of your income towards premiums (and deductibles?) no idea how rbr got it for so cheap. the website says your gunna pay $278, but the $6k deductible is bronze, get the silver, same price, WAY lower deductible

obama is 100% to 400% of the fed poverty level so from $15k to $55k ish once you get past $30k, you gunna hit the 9.5% thing. But again, Silver plan in the ONLY way to get tax credit AND subsidy.

I just don't see how that is possible. $55 per month with no deductible and cheap co pays. I have not heard of anyone that was able to get a decent affordable plan after the ACA.

I used the exchange to get a plan one year and it was cheap because I qualified for a subsidy, but the deductible was $3500.
That is a plan through an employer like Wal mart who has 50,000 employees.

It is not typical for the normal person or any employee of a company much smaller.

I can have a plan with zero deductable, 50 dollar visits, and 100 ER charge.

That used to cost me 488 per month. The same plan today is 3,890 PER MONTH.

Now for 488 per month, I am elgible for roughly the same charges with a 7500 deductible. Its shit.

How do you guys put up with it? Sounds horrible. Now I'm not the biggest fan of our system(Can often be very long wait times etc), but atleast I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. And if it's urgent it gets done quickly
Indeed

If i take a good soil sample the bill is gonna be a few fees and that's it. Regardless of the seriousness of the injury.
Sure we pay a lot of taxes for it but at least, if we have some bad luck with our health, we don't end up in serious debt. (or with a big deductible bill)
