In the 2009 MXA 450 SHOOTOUT, They say the Carb'd Yamaha YZ450F fuels the best.

" Isn’t it strange that the bike that delivered the best fuel flow, most on-demand power and spot-on jetting was one of only two bikes with a carburetor? In stock trim we had no jetting issues with the YZ450F Keihin. If you run an aftermarket exhaust pipe, you might need to swap the stock 160 mainjet for a 165 and raise the needle one clip position."

Funny, MXA seems to always go with the Yamaha ....since the begining of time.

Fuel injection is about the future (development) and we all know that a lot of MXA still live in the past.

Magazine tests aren't definitive, just some one's opinion.
Funny how the stock bike has the best fuel delivery but they can't keep the factory Yamaha race bikes from bogging.

Actually they kinda bashed the Yamaha... This was one of the few positives they said about it. And it didnt win the shootout either. The KX450F is the winner

Although I think it may have won the shootout if it hadn't had such a hopeless muffler that corks the bike up. The easiest thing to change on the bike. Coulda woulda shoulda, but that's something that's pretty easy to swap.

i finally rode my new rmz 450 yesterday, and i have to say, it was MUCH better than I expected. it was so spot on it was ridiculous. it might just be me, but the new fuel injected 450s felt real "mechanical" upon start up. when I kicked it over, it just "felt" different than my other bikes

Yup, through most of the 80's and well into the 90's it was a Honda orgy of love.

Magazine Shoot outs and fuel injection are both overrated.

But 4 horses down on power (I know it's the exhaust). What I thought was awesome, was KTM getting second - & it's carbed.
