Do you think they will look at him a little more closely if there are 40 or fewer riders attempting to qualify? Would they have to consider that the likelihood of him being a rolling hazard in a heat or semi is greater than in timed qualifying, where he can roll the jumps, or go around the whoops? Nobody is really looking out for slower riders or expecting guys to avoid doing all of the obstacles in the heats and semis.

I can see signing up to say you did it, but whats the point of signing up if you aren't going to jump the triples? Maybe the guy has a bunch of money and likes traveling, but just don't see the point?

What exactly is the Grandfather rule, if you now?

I mean what the hell, right? I'm his age, I have a Husky 2-Stroke and I still get license renewal emails from AMA. I think I've been riding enough this year with my new bike to give it a go. Hell, I think I can beat Mike Tyson!

Nothing like fixing the problem once the horse has bolted.

I think the real problem will arise if he ends up in the "B" group in Toronto instead of "C".

There probably will only be two groups in Toronto, so no C group.

If he was at least hitting most or all of the jumps/obstacles on the track then I'd be rooting for him to maybe make a main event but just rolling everything the way he is, I have to agree with the people who are asking what's the point.... I'm not going to repeatedly ride tracks I don't have even close to the skill needed to ride. He should do some SX training or something to get his skills up and try again but for this season I think he should throw in the towel.

The thought of that guy "racing" a heat race is scary. But of course the officials won't do anything about it until someone gets hurt.

Thing is how he rides isn't safe for himself or others around him. I never saw him jump the triple, he rarely jumped the finish line. Doubling into the rhythm section before the triple was chore for him, the rhythm section before the sand section he wrecked in several times. He wrecked a couple times in whoops and almost looped out once or twice. KJSX kids maneuvered the track better than him.
no...the thing is, you are not the judge of what is or isn't "too" dangerous. The AMA officials are.

that was the entire point of my first post...good job!

I remember there was another example of this in Daytona in 2005. The guy had no business being out there. For comparison's sake, Reed was the fast qualifier that day with a 56.9. This guy's fast lap was 2:27.3. His second best time was 3 minutes flat. And if you look up his results on the AMA website, he has run the Unlimited C and 50B class as recently as last year. The system is broken.

Crazy how fast these guys are, even the C practice guys.

Jason Vienot #762 caught my eye. Him and a few other guys used to FLY around the fair tracks around here when he showed up.

Also just goes to show you how insanely fast the top few riders each year are. Crazy stuff when you think about what they can do on a dirt bike.
Jason vienot won the first four stroke class at loretta lynns. He also had a super cross track at home, i think.
Supercross can make a really good rider, look slow or lose their confidence

Don't know if anyone saw this interview with Ronnie posted this week on transworld or not. This guy has been scary at best to watch in qualifying so far. Kinda funny how TWMX is sorta glamorizing what he denies is a "mid-life crisis" but clearly is such as he's obviously a danger on the track. I do respect his will and actually his balls to put his safety on the line but after this many weeks when is enough enough already??

Exactly 40 riders on the entry list now, and Hahn has been removed, leaving only two injured riders on the list. Unless three more riders sign up, everybody will make the night show.

On another note, could this be the end for Tommy Hahn? Being removed from the entry list, injured or not, is usually not a good sign.

If it's your average cookie cutter supercross track (45-60 second lap times and not muddy), and you are 10 seconds + slower than the top qualifying guy in practice when the track is at it's best, you probably shouldn't be there. 10 seconds is huge when your laps are under a minute.

Imagine if Joe Blow quarterback who used to play for a division 2 school back in the day, plays in an adult league on some weekends, and is now in his 40s was put in during a preseason NFL game. That's the equivalent.

Does anybody remember that guy a few years ago who posted here talking about how he ran Unadilla? He was on some ragged out KTM running some hot wheels gear from way back in the day. There was even a picture of him out on the track on pro day.

They need to turn the power up on their radar, The time I saw him He was a danger to himself and anyone who had to be on the track with him.

I'm sure He's a good rider but He clearly does not belong out there.

Yeah exactly. I think this is the weekend where he gets in the B guy's way in practice and the AMA may have to do something. If he gets into the night show that's really gnarly.

MXD - Where'd you find that 2005 Practice Session Sheet?

Timing should be used to limit the entries to two heats for the 125cc class and three heats for the 250cc classes, thus insuring severely off the pace riders are NOT in the program. MX Sport's harebrained decision to go to “Timed Practice”, forces the riders to ride the fast line during practice, thus insuring a one-lined racetrack and wearing that one-line out more. They used to place hay bales on the insides of turns, and in the good line through the whoops during practice, to create more lines. Supercross and Motocross is about racing, not just who can do ONE FAST LAP.

He'll definitely be in a large group of B riders for the first time this season. Whether he makes the nite show will depend on somebody dropping out during qualifying, or before the nite show begins. Millsaps has a bad wrist, but is expected to race. The entry count is currently at 42, but that includes KRoc.

I applaud the effort, but he's not prepared, and he's not getting better doing what he's doing.

So the entry list is now at 41. Somebody withdrew today, and with Roczen included in the 41, it looks like there will be exactly forty guys attempting to qualify for the nite show. Unless there is a last minute entry, Ronnie is going to get a chance to race. Best of luck to him.

Well hope he does not cause another rider to get hurt. He should get black.
flagged out of the group B practice and thus not eligible to race in the night show if he rides like he has been.
