Got this little Toyota about 15 years ago. Still gets 23mpg, passes smog no problem and has 430k miles hassle free.
Best purchase I've ever made.

Ford. My opinion is biased though, I've worked for the them for almost 20 years.

I bit the bullet and bought a '16 Tacoma early this year. Even loaded with bike and gear she gets 25mpg, and with 280hp and a 6 speed manual, moves pretty good. They're pricey, but hold their value much better than any other truck. Something to keep in mind. I could actually make money if I sold my truck right now. It's weird.

How on God's green Earth are you getting 25MPG?

I have a 16' Tacoma and with nothing in it I get 17ish on a good day. Either you drive like a grandma or the manual transmission makes a big difference. I do feel like I'm a gear low a lot of the time.

First thing, tacoma speedometers/odometers are slow from the factory so you're mileage calculations will be a little low. Solved two ways. Get a slightly larger tire, or have your cluster corrected. I opted to go with 265/70r17 over the factory 265/65r17. Now it's spot on.
The automatics are supposed to get better mileage than the manual due to their higher final drive of 3.90:1 but lacks the grunt the manual has with a 4.30:1, as well as a lower first gear. I have done a mbrp exhaust, but made no changes in mpg. I definitely drive enthusiastically, but try to keep it under 70 most of the time. Wind resistance plays a huge part in mileage above about 45 mph.
Honestly I'd take your truck in. The worst I've gotten unloaded was 18 and that was up in the cascades pulling big grades and driving with a lead foot. The worst it's ever seen was 11, but that was pulling a loaded 17ft travel trailer, and the bed full of firewood over the cascades.

I have a 2016 Inferno Tacoma Sport V6 6MT as well. 1200 miles on it. Stock Firestone Destinations .

I changed the Diffs to RL 75W/85 GL-5 and Tranny/Xfer to RL MT-90 GL-4 at 500 miles. I averaged 18-19 mpg per the idiot display and that is with several brisk runs during the first 500 miles. Last warmed up highway run this morning @ 65 in 6th netted 23 mpg per the display reading when the engine was turned off.

Indeed, if 17-ish best on a "good day", that would cause me pause as well...

EDIT- I am running E0 87...

Thanks guys. I actually do have larger tires and 17" wheels which I assumed would decrease my mileage a bit. I didn't drive with stock wheels long enough to see the difference. I have a 16' BBP SR5 DCLB with A V6. I do drive pretty fast in the mornings, but even when I don't it's around 17. Typically I'm at 15. It has a leveling kit, but Fs nor crazy lifted or anything.

And yeah I run regular fuel in it 90% of the time. Occasionally premium, but it's mixed in with at least half a tank of 87

Im not buying 25mpg on the Tacoma unless you cruise at 50-55mph. Go on the Tacoma forums and anytime gas mileage comes up in a thread it's almost never in a positive manner.

That's what I'm saying. There are people on tacomaworld that say 20-22 and it's still pretty hard to believe. Most people I've spoken to are around where I'm at.

I love my 2015 Tacoma SR. Great little truck that does what I need it to. Gas mileage is about the same as a V8 half ton though. I average about 17.5 mpg since new. Best I've ever seen was 21 on a road trip, and that was on a mild day at 55 mph because of construction zones and no AC.

Mine is lifted slightly and it's a 2.7L 4x4 with a 5 speed manual. Tires are 265/75-16 BFG K02 tires that are E rated. Very heavy tires but I need the puncture resistance for the rocky trails we have around here.

The older Dodge Rams are obviously a multi-purpose moto truck! ha

Damn!!! Haha, wow. Good plan until you get pulled over & the cop looks in the bed...That would really make him want to take a look. I wonder how long that took to cut & build? Dizzy

I drive a Chevy Colorado crew cab but I would reccoment the ext can if you don't like loading up sideways or have 2 bikes to haul not to mention the 5 cylinder engine

I had a ranger and 2 bikes was pretty awkward over 50 i like the Colorado because it's a little bigger heavier and stronger than the 4 cyl ranger but make sure to get the 6 ft bed

I recently had the frame replaced/recall done on my 00 Tundra. They gave me a loaded 16 taco and I avg 15/16ish. It didn't help I drove it like a rental, but goddamn they're sweet rides. The JBL stereo and all the fancy electronic were mind numbing. It was a real bummer going back to my 16yo Tundra, but there's just no way in hell I could justify the payment on one of those.

They're a hair on the small side, and the new tundra's are HUGE.. my Firt gen Tundra is the perfect size for me. I wish I had the D.C. cab, but she's been a solid performer for the last 15 years and drives the same as the day I brought it home.

I'm really liking my new ford. Back seat is huge and the short bed has enough room for everything I need.

Awesome truck man, we must have similar taste cause I upgraded from a Ranger as well. I went with the short bed on mine, sometimes I wish I would have went with the long box but I rarely haul anything other than the bikes and they fit just fine.

Everyone knows a guy that parked his truck with a bike in it outside of work for an afternoon ride and came out to find the truck bed empty. If you're getting your license just now, I can assume you're in high school. You don't want to park a truck with a bike in it in a high school parking lot for a variety of reasons.
This- plus you can bonk the squeeze in it between motos......Brings back
high school memories.......Cool

I don't haul much, but this taco gets the job done! Can't close my tailgate but I never have to worry about anything falling out. I used to own a 2003 ford ranger V6 4x4 and I was able to store my bike with the tailgate down (just turn my rear wheel in). But there wasn't enough room in the interior.

Thanks. It's just got the rough country 2 inch level kit and I'm running 265's.
