Tomac Changes

Maybe this has been discussed in one of the ten Tomac threads posted Saturday night but I have a 3 month old so cut me some slack here but does anyone have any ideas on what was changed on his bike? After the pulp show last night he seems to know but won't spill the beans. Any ideas?

I heard he switched from factory triple clamps to X-Trig, put a new linkage on, and they softened the initial stroke on the shock to allow better traction and comfort through bumps etc.

He also swapped out the power-band which he said made a big difference.

It had to be more than just suspension, that holeshot he pulled was crazy. The other thing was that track fits his outdoor style of riding.

Matthes said it was a chassis related change... not sure if that means some kind of frame support or what.. but whatever it was, it sure allowed him to hook up and get some traction out of the gate!

Yup... remember Tomac at Southwick last year, flat-tracking through the turns as he passed Roczen. He's definitely not afraid of a little wheel spin

When I saw that track I figured it would be his night. (To bad it was too late to change my fantasy picks).

It will take the next smaller tight track to see if that's what brings Dungey and MooseCan back to the top for the fantasy pics. Anything big I would be picking Tomac now.

In Pit Bits they mentioned Kawi was using some new linkages this weekend. Perhaps that helped.

Lowered the rear end or raised it to turn faster? It makes sense if he softened everything especially after hearing that's how Roczens bike was set up.

So more or less he went to longer or shorter linkage, and with that had to go up or down in spring rate. Makes sense.

It is so freaking sensitive and can make 2sec/lap easilly with those changes.

Bros, the changes are always the same, just like MXA does.

Correct me if I'm wrong but looks like the dogbone link looks shorter, which I *think* would raise the rear end and make the bike more front biased (?)
(Tomac said he made the bike more front end biased on Pulpmx).

Here's a pic of his bike from before this weekend.....different link for sure...

Added a tooth to the rear, new clamp offset, and shorter link to get rid of the 'stink bug effect'. He had his mechanic Jody do the work.

I remember Matthes saying they made a new part that they thought of and it helped, but couldn't say what the part was.

Eli also said on the Pulp show last night that he made the bike more front end biased or something I don't remember the exact word that he used but it was something to that effect. I think he just means the front end has more feel for him now and he also said he can turn the bike and hang on to it much better now.

We could have a battle on our hands if Tomac can get some more wins and guys like Musquin, Anderson, Reed etc. get in between him and Dungey, IF Tomac is riding to his ability I don't see anyone but Dungey being able to run with him on a consistent basis. It's gonna be a fight, but Tomac has to work on consistency if he wants to beat Dungey, I think Eli's already like 20 points back.

The X-Trig clamps were different at A2.
