Roczen timetable?

First, some Vital acknowledgements before I ask.

Yes, I know its only been a week.
Yes, I know his arm, wrist and elbow are jacked.
Yes, I know his arm was opened up like Freddy Krueger got him.
Yes, I know he has his whole career ahead of him.

My question is, if everything goes well and he heals up in a reasonable amount of time, what are we looking at for him getting back out there? I havent any guess. Is this a Mid outdoors thing? Is it, see you in 2018? Lucky to ride again? Where are we at?

I would assume 2017 is shot. Maybe Monster Cup.... It will probably be a month or two until they have an idea of how well, if ever, his arm will be 100%.

I just posted this pic in another thread, but will post here and keep in mind my son didn't have a dislocated wrist or elbow. He did however have two breaks in each bone in the lower forearm. He basically has a titanium left forearm now. Kiefer's accident happened on Nov 15, 2015. He had 7 surgeries and a skin graft. He was released from the hospital after two weeks, then returned 4 weeks later for the final skin graft. I am guessing KRoc will have a similar type surgery. Kiefer was allowed to return to riding around the first of April 2016, 5 months later. But with the added injuries KRoc has he could be longer. Everyone heals differently.

That is my guess. There may be complications on the road for him, it wont be an easy recovery.

The second i heard that the elbow and wrist was dislocated i instantly thought that this could be a injury that has an impact on his career.

Lets hope that i'm wrong and he will be the normal Roczen when he lines up the next time on the grid.

I would prefer to see Roczen take a little longer with the healing process than rush it and potentialy damage it again. I admire his passion and determination to get it sorted quickly and I'm pretty confident him an his guys won't rush the process. Wishing you the best Kenny take your time,

Was looking forward to seeing him at the MXDN but judging by your guys comments looks very unlikely. Gnarly sport huh ? Always 2018..

I don't know why everybodys expecting such long rehabilitation. If the fractured radius is all he suffered and everything else is still good ( no nerves, elbow, wrist damaged) and he doesn't get an infection, they'll replace the external fix with a plate when the swelling is gone and that's it. It's impossible to make a prediction without any information about that all but it wouldn't surprise me if he's back on the bike in no time.

why rush it??? no way he's gonna be on the line at hangtown so whats the point?? with luck he's able to do the dungy from last year and come back for a few off season races and MEC to get some gate time for A1 2018

Yeah I can't see why he would even bother returning for 2017... He's young and has many years ahead of him. Take the year off, heal up and come back 100%.

That is epic. As asked, how is he now/riding ability?, pain etc... A tuff dude right there.

Believe it or not the last weekend in August a kid wrecked in front of him on big double and Kiefer clipped his bike as he landed. Sent him flying and he rebroke everything. It was a bad crash and I assumed the worst, but only the arm again. Surgery to get new plates.

He was back up to speed before that with no issues. It was tough, he had just finished his best year, made Loretta's, was riding great. His first accident was a result of a motor blowing up right as he launched a big triple. It's definitely a tough sport. He misses it badly but he's on an extended break.......
