Clutch upgrade question?

Bike is a 2006 CR 250....Do I keep stock, that has like 60 hrs on it, purchase a complete Hinson or purchase a Rekluse auto clutch? I have the money to make the upgrade and figured it would be the clutch upgrade this year. I race Moto only. I really like the clutch pull on stock clutch worried aftermarket would be stiffer. Can I truly benefit from the aftermarket complete clutch kits mentioned? I'm a B Level rider plus 40 class. I have searched and can't come up with a clear answer for me... Any help appreciated!

Never thought the rekluse would be for me until I rode a few bikes with them for the day. My next bike will definitely be getting one.

The Hinson components are going to last longer than OEM Honda. Their not going to work any better. I have a complete Hinson setup, but it's for longevity. The OEM parts are way cheaper, and you could replace them many times for what a Hinson setup would cost. I would try some stiffer clutch springs though for the $50 it'll cost. 25% stiffer, will make your clutch plates last longer. Not much harder of a pull at the lever. You'll be happy.

I would buy the Rekluse stuff for the added benefits of what a Rekluse provides...Whether it's Rekluse or Hinson it's going to cost you. But all that being said, unless you 'need' a new basket, pressure plate and hub, stock is going to be just fine. Spend the money on suspension...

Yea, understood... what suspension upgrades besides service are you referring to Monk?

I have a Hinson basket with rekluse everything else. Over 220 hrs and all the plates are still in spec. No signs of wear on anything really.

For Moto? I would stay away from a Rekluse EXP, but their Torq Drive? BY GOLLY that thing is a whoot! Much like everyone else said the Hinson will not improve over stock, but it will last longerWoohoo

I have the full hinson clutch on my 2016 kx450f. The machined components flex less than cast and the clutch is more consistent when abused. They also last longer. The clutch pull is stiffer. Hinson springs are strong. If your basket is grooved just get a hinson basket and heavier duty springs. You can run stock plates or ebc if your on a budget. Use your stock pressure plate if it is in good condition.

I have stock on my 05. It works really well. I haven't had any desire to upgrade. As others have said if the basket is good, I would leave it alone but I;m a cheap bass turd,
