Food for thought. A CR500 engine literally bolts into a 97-99 CR250 chassis. Very easy chassis to convert.

You just missed a 2002 crf450 to 500AF coversion. Sold for $2900.

I'm going to make another one using a 2005 crf450 chassis this month. For what it costs to completely rebuid a 450 motor I can buy used cr500 engines. They are great bikes for deep sand tracks but I will take my 09 CRF450 any where else.

Amen on the deep sand. I used to love the Bryon(IL) track when it was totally covered in 3-feet of sawdust and I was on a CR500Smile

There are 3 or 4 on the local craigslist down here in socal for sale...... As for the 97-99CR chassis, yes they weren't the best but with a 500 in them I think they should be very good because the rigidity of the frame will keep the engine from flexing the frame too much like the steelies. The newer frames probably are better but A LOT more work to convert tthe 97-99 requires the movement of the 2 bottom motor mounts and that's it. I will be building one soon .....
