Would need to be homologated first.

while the alta had a solid outing in the straight ryhthym event, running one in an actual sx event is much different. One thing not ran into is the length of battery life. with all the qual events and heats and mains i dont think it would have the juice to make it, especially at full tilt.

second electric vehicles are so different that they SHOULD NOT be included in the same classes. Auto racing has already addressed thses issues by running them in their own class.

at this point, the bikes are good, but they dont belong in a class of gas engines(much like mixing 2 strokes and 4 strokes), or in pro racing.

I agree all the way around. However, they will have to address it at some point, letting one in with ICE's, just to be able to develop them. Maybe an experimental exemption like the KTM or Yamaha Doug Henry rode?

Actually you're right, MX does need electric bikes. The closing of Lierop really reinforces that need.

My man,
I looked at buying an Alta!!
30-40 min battery life at full power,
Great, I get to turn up to the track on a Sunday to do one 25 minute training Session and then pack up and go home!

Would take about 4 units to complete a Saturday of supercross

Wouldnt Alta be granted a one year works exemption if they wanted to try?

Whoever is making the choices to close these tracks are literally just picking the lowest hanging fruit. A 757 flying from LA to London produces more greenhouse gas than pretty much every dirtbike put together for a year.

Getting rid of 4 stroke mx bikes will have absolutely zero effect on c02 emissions. Its total horseshit.

Lierop being closed had more to do with the noise coming from the people camping than the bikes.

Uh...

The problem is noise. That's always been the single biggest obstacle for tracks near where people live.

Stand in lierop camping area on a GP weekend,
The highway noise was above them 96bd dream machines!!

Oh and side note, the business owners in lierop seem to have a drastically different opinion about the GP than that hand full of tree huggers who are going to end another motocross legacy

Well why not put a turbine emgine in a bike. They wont even let a 2 stroke and you want electric? Maybe if alta pays somebody off.

Maybe if the droning sound of an electric motor could make your heart race that same way a gas bike does!
You know, that sound a gas bike makes, the one that makes you happily empty you wallet every weekend
