Do you throw litter out of your car window because it's only a small wrapper? Do you leave you litter scattered around the pits at the end of the day? Don't understand why a ban on tear offs is so controversial.
It isn't controversial. It's just a dumb thread started by a fucktard that clearly lives a miserable life.
Go suck start a pistol, then you won't ever have to worry about liberals, or commies, or tear offs ever again!

Ya, I see.. It took 35 years, but NOW it's really got people hot. Put something in someone's mind, look at what happens. In 1990, when we had 5 times as many racers it wasn't a problem.

It never occurred to anyone that picking them up and putting them in the trash, which is already being done, averts the problem. It was a good thread, I love watching people get their panties in a bunch over something so stupid.
Hope everyone enjoys A1.. Even though those god damn plastic beer cups are going to be a serious problem. Peace everyone, it's just a talking point, relax.

It's a friggin' race rule. If Australian Motorcycling members don't like the rules change, they can do what it takes to have it changed back. Or race in other organizations.
There are no other organisations in Australian racing, there is one, one ALL Powering oganisation.

Hahaha I'm far from a "liberal". I love when people throw that around. Clearly you don't know me, or understand the meaning of liberal.

Hope you all don't get too bummed coming to Minneapolis for SX. The snow gets dirty and doesn't look very nice, all that calcium chloride is great for the environment.

Doing some work in the dynomometer tonight, I'm running the exhaust down the sewer pipe. Trying to protect the air, not sure why the neighbors have the windows open.

I'm laughing SO hard right now, you guys are great

Just like the Hollywood elites that preach welfare, and help starving communities. I never see them give their hard earned money away to fix the problem. They just think they look good in the public eye, or feel good talking about it.. They don't really give a shit, in fact, they probably profit from it.

Chest protectors are plastic, they need to go. They sit in a landfill forever.

We don't have " other organisations " there is only MA " motorcycling asphyxiated "
Private promoters don't exist. MA has a long track record of doing what it takes to shut down anyone who tries to run an event without their involvement ( that means their exorbitant fees for doing absolutely nothing plus their percentage of the $$ taken at the spectator gate )
Some years ago clubs were so sick of the blood sucking bastards that they ran non sanctioned or " black events "
MA made it publicly known that any rider that attended one of these events would have their race license cancelled.
One memorable incident where this actually happened was in about 1984 I think... When Australia's top rider at the time Jeff Leisk rode a club hare and hound event run by the club I was in , the Diamond valley club, it was a " black event"
It was just a low key thing and he was just riding for fun...a couple of weeks later he was scheduled to race the Mildura supercross, which was a fairly prestigious event in its day.
Anyway, a local newspaper published an article about how Leisk attended the local event and it got back to MA.
When we all got to Mildura to race we were all shocked when Leisk fronted up with the Honda team only to be told to fuck off, your license is cancelled!! This really happened and I was there.
That was Leisk"s last year here before heading to the States.

Motocross is just about dead in Australia, especially in the state of Victoria , hardly any races at all anymore and MA and their stupid rules and policies and incomprehensibly stupid decisions are the cause 100%

Exactly and they somehow managed to finangle some cosy arrangement with the federal government that sees them as the " one and only officially government recognised controlling body of all motorcycle sport "
I really don't think there will be any more motocross racing in Ausralia in a few years unless MA are gotten rid of.

If one wants to boldly challenge the formidable anti-tear-off political machine in Australia, all they would have to do is host a race that allows tear offs. That's as deep as the "ban" runs.
It is against the law in Australia to run a motorcycle race unless it is sanctioned by MA ... Only MA affiliated motorcycle clubs can run an event , it is technically possible for a private promoter to run an MA sanctioned event, this is the case for most supercross events but few have ever been able to do so with motocross.
If a club were to attempt to allow tear offs at their event, then MA would threaten to revoke their race permit and send everyone home..meeting cancelled!

I'm all ears and would like to know about it. They will have a difficult road ahead of them as MA will do their utmost to shut them down.
If it's true I hope they can succeed.
Unless some clubs in Victoria can ditch MA and somehow get away with running senior only races , then the sport is doomed as far as I'm concerned. I was keen to buy a bike and have a crack again recently , but looking at the pathetic race calendar quickly reminded me why I quit last time.

There are a couple of these clubs around.

There is one in South Aus, with the Insurance organised through the local church from what I am lead to beleive.

It is about 1.5 hours from Adelaide, just over an hour from my place, they race Saturday's during the non fire ban period of the year, race every second Saturday, practice on the alternate.

Super cheap to race and ride compared to M.A events and with the new lot of licence increases here in Aus and ride levy increases I am expecting this track to be even more popular than ever.

With both me and my son riding and he only rides the Demo class at the moment it cost me about $400 a year for our licences, $150 to join the local club, another $80 to join a second local club, then practice days about $25 each to ride, club race days $60 for myself and my son $25 as he is still in the Demo class (under 7)

State title round $110 plus transponder hire plus Flaggy payment.

Rider numbers in this country are not down, bike sales continue to grow, just the race numbers that are in decline from the MX Nationals all the way down to the local club day.

Non MA ride parks are becoming very popular, once they figure out a way to get insurance at a good price to hold race meetings things might finally change.

That's good news and I hope it takes off. I agree that there are still plenty of people with bikes, there is just zero value in racing anymore.
No offence, but I will never again attend any race where they have a junior class....just ends up being too many classes and not enough track time plus the track has to be dumbed down to accomodate toddlers on peewee's.
Decades ago juniors had their own organisation and tracks and they were happy, likewise seniors.
It must return to this in order to save the sport.
I understand the father and son thing riding together completely and a " dads class " at junior events would be a winner for sure, but in order to attract people back so that everyone gets track time on a suitable track that doesn't have to accomodate the lowest common denominator as well as value for money then junior and senior motocross must be completely split up.
Juniors in Victoria in the 80's was just massive, likewise senior racing , the system as it was then just worked.
The 2017 race calendar is absolute proof that mixing juniors and seniors on the same track and same day has destroyed the sport...hardly anyone races anymore because all you do is sit around all day waiting, waiting, waiting and you of course pay big $$ for the privilege

Well for one, that is complete and utter horseshit !! Where did you come up with that nonsense ?? There are several clubs in South East Queensland alone which are not MA affiliated and run race meetings every month. There are also more tracks being built and going ahead which are not MA affiliated, and the sooner that happens, and the more that happens, the better.

The problem goes beyond just banning tear-offs. For years MA sat back and watched while track after track was closed down by local governments and they did absolutely nothing about it. Now, this is what they come up with as progression. Ban tear-offs. To me it's dumb and premature.

At least it can't be used as an April fool's joke anymore !!

Have you noticed how many changes they have had in regards to the top job at MA in recent times ?? Something is very, very broken. They have brought in several guys with serious credentials and a proven record in top jobs at other sporting based organisations, and they have barely lasted 6 months. I am not sure how and why, but they can't get out of there quick enough from what I have seen. Would loved to have seen an interview in the moto media with one of the previous CEO's. A completely open, honest frank discussion about their time at the top and their take on the situation and the problems that exist. I am guessing that the moto media journo's are too scared to go there ?? Aaryn234 ??? Even with the whole of sport reviews that MA have tried to complete, it just seems like it goes nowhere and nothing changes. Let's see how few line up this year at the start gate of the MX Nationals. I am predicting it is going to be near on embarrassing as far as rider numbers go !! Why would you bother ??

Agree wholeheartedly there Swapper. I think stand-alones or an alternative body will come through soon enough. Seems MA has lost the confidence of many people and clubs now.

It would be great to have somone open up and tell their perspective on why they were in and out of M.A so quickly and why we have seen so much change at the top recently.

Why there was a whole of sport review that seems to be swept to the way side.

Think the number one problem is it is an organisation that is not looking after ONE Sport, they are looking after a shit load of different sports that are all grouped under motorcycling and motorcycle racing with to many people out to look after their own disiplines.

There needs to be a massive shift away from one body and it to be split into different bodies controling different disiplines.

We all know that MX / Enduro numbers make up the majority of licence holders in Australia, but how percentage wise is going back to MX?

I am struggling to see how things are going to get any better at the moment, and can see the continued rise of private clubs and ride parks.

Who knows once there is enough of them out there, MX / Enduro ride parks and clubs, maybe they can get together and form their own organisation!

Your a true genius. How does liquid water exist TODAY on Mars, without a carbon dioxide atmosphere? You better take astronomy again. As soon as motocross makes its way to Mars, the Martians will be fucked unless they unleash a tear off ban.

The only thing I know for sure, is that 2000 years ago the mean average temperature of Earth was a few degrees warmer than it is today, and there were no SUVs or tear offs.

You're spot on man. It is a well known fact that MX/Enduro money has propped up the road racing scene forever. Now with the MX numbers dwindling, what's their next move ?? I am not sure they have one, they would need that money. Might explain why the licence fees went up again. One thing that has really irked me in regards to MA, is the fact that they have used the money of licence holders to buy property and prop up bank accounts instead of giving back to the clubs that generate the licence holders. And the way they sat back and watched so many tracks close down and did absolutely nothing about it shows that they have no spine. I personally know several very motivated business people in the moto industry who have committed their time and effort towards the state body (MQ), but got absolutely nowhere as there are people in there protecting their own interests, so they got nowhere, and just gave up and quit. Sad, as it affects all of us that ride, but it shows how truly broken the system is.

As for a separate organisation, it certainly could be possible in the future. Gee it would truly be good for the sport here in Aus.I know in South East Queensland there are people involved in the clubs which aren't MA affiliated who are putting together a 4 or 5 round race series, and are closely working together for the good of the riders. Hoping that it all comes together and they pull it off. It would be great for the local scene.

Trump has common sense. You want irony? The seat belt law was passed the same way they are approaching tear offs. No fine.. Just lift. Next thing you know, it's a 10$ fine.. 50$ fine... Now 150$ fine.

The irony here, is that a motorcycle rider can pass me, in a snow storm without a helmet on, not wearing a seatbelt, and I will end up with the ticket in my truck. So it's not really about the safety, just like it's not about the environment.

That's your common sense liberal, a real mental disorder.

Obviously a false assumption on my part after living through the trauma of being heavily involved in the track building / licensing process of the Deniliquin ( NSW ) track back in 2001.
In NSW you have to get your track approved by the department of sport and recreation who send out local police officers to see that it complies with their regulations. The sport and rec regulations and the MANSW regulation were totally at odds with each other particularly in relation to run off distance from the edge of the track to the spectator fence. MA required 6 metres and Sport and rec required 20 metres....you can well imagine the implications of this.
At the same time that I was at war over the phone with the fuckwit at sport and rec, I was threatening MANSW with legal action if they issued me with track obstacle specs that were outdated or incorrect , prior to the construction process.
The issue at that time was whoops or rollers. They were to be of a set max height and a set max distance apart...at the time there was talk that they had been banned all together . MANSW insisted on at least three occasions over the phone, that they were legal, and that the specs they issued me were current and correct, so we built a couple of big sets of them, they sent out their inspector who told us that they would have to be removed because they were banned!!! Wtf???
My club didn't have the balls to back up my threat of legal action , so the whoops had to go, fucking up the way the track flowed before and after the sections.

In the extended telephone melee between myself and the fuckwit at sport and rec, the fuckwit at MANSW and the pure arsehole cop that was allocated as our sport and rec track inspector who said and I quote " no matter what you do, no matter what you change, I will never sign off on any motorcycle track as long as I'm given the authority to do otherwise "

I basically told them to all fuck off and we would just go our own way. MANSW told me it was illegal to even attempt to run motorcycle races outside their jurisdiction in NSW, sport and rec backed up the claim stating that MANSW was the only body recognised and accredited with supervising motorcycle racing in NSW and they would never approve anything ( an absolute legal requirement in NSW ) unless it was under the control of MANSW.

So there you go....This might still be bullshit or it may well be the truth in NSW... Obviously not the case in QLD ,WA or SA it seems...thank fuck for that!

In any case it took over a year after the completion of their track for the Deniliquin club to actually get it licensed through sport and rec...they literally had to go over that cop's head to a regional head honcho...in the end they transferred the arsehole. Word was all the other cops hated him as much as we did!

In the end it pretty much gutted the club, they ran one successful meeting thien interest waned , the usual club politics and internal disputes set in and the track sat mostly unused for the last 14 years or so.
There have been recent attempts to revive their club and re license the track however.

I haven't paid much attention to it. I washed my hands of MA , they killed my favourite sport.
I would suck it up again, pay for their pointless license and go racing again if there were an abundance of senior only motocross events on decent tracks here in Vic , but there aren't . It's a child minding service.
A mate of mine was trying everything to get his permit for a ride park on a block he leases in the hills behind Lake Macoan near Glenrowan, he actually got passed on everything apart from environmental impact. Aparrantly his track posed an unacceptable risk to the invisible trouser Python which is an endangered species...haven't heard from him yet ,but I don't think his appeal was successful . If he got his track running, I would be down to the dealer for a new YZ 125.
No bike for me it seems...and the greenies win yet again!
