I gotta stop pulling up the damn news.

At least the social workers are charged in this, long read but ,how the hell the people that should have helped can live with themselves.

Poor kid

Definitely bizarre. I know a lot of people don't feel like they're parenting well unless they beat their kids now and then, but even most of them wouldn't go to this extreme. It does make you think about when the authorities should be allowed to intervene. Obviously in this case they should have, but what if it were a case of the kid getting spanked daily with a leather strap? I know some folks who would say that that is a parental right and needed to instill discipline in their children.

Somewhere there's a line. This case was obviously very, very far over it.

When we adopted our younger children we dealt with over a dozen governmental types, CPS, Sheriff's offices, etc. Nearly every one of them was incredibly invested in ensuring the welfare of the children and showed a great level of commitment, but one particular person nearly ruined the whole process.

She was a social worker in the Mt. Vernon office, about 3 hours from us. She was the original case worker because that's where the kids had originally been living. As our original adoption date approached, a local case worker came out to do some final checks and such. She mentioned something about our monthly visits with the original social worker during the prior 30 months or so, which surprised me. I made the mistake of telling her that she'd never been to our house. Come to find out, the original social worker had been reporting that she'd been visiting us monthly, and even submitting mileage, hotel, and meal reimbursement for traveling over the mountains to come here.

We basically had to start a lot of the process over again, and it took just about another 2 years to finalize the adoption.

Everyone else in the process was fantastic, but the one jackass nearly ruined everything.

She did get terminated, from the sounds of it she'd done this on a few other cases as well.

The mother and boyfriend need to be beat with bats, shot with bb guns, starved and forced to eat cat poop. Absolutely horrible and our system failed that little boy.

Was that Mt. Vernon Wa? Glad everything worked for you. It seems like it's too easy for children to go unnoticed. I've heard of other cases of extreme abuse where case workers had visited the homes and reported nothing. But to not even go to a home and report she did. Glad she was fired.

Yep, the original social worker was in Mt Vernon and we were in Wenatchee. I actually threw up after I realized what had happened.

After we figured it out and that social worker was suspended (before she was terminated) they were able to transfer the whole case file to Wenatchee. Things went well after that, we had random visits from at least 3 social workers at least monthly. They did usually call ahead about 20 minutes or so just to see if we were home, but it was pretty random.

As for the police, I think it's a tough thing for the "average" officer or deputy. They can suspect things, but unless they actually witness the abuse it's hard for them to do anything that will legally stick. It's not their specialty, but whoever they alert with their suspicions should be better trained.

I know I've mentioned this before, but we had a couple month period where my 3 youngest children all suffered broken bones. All had the same ER doc. First my oldest son broke his foot skateboarding. My youngest daughter broke her wrist diving in volleyball. My youngest son broke his arm on his scooter.

When my youngest son was in the ER, the doctor asked him if he felt safe at home. My son looked confused and told him "Of course I do, we lock our doors at night and all our neighbors look out for each other!" Both the doctor and I chuckled a little bit, and I told my son that the doctor wanted to know if he felt safe from anyone in the house, like if I was beating him or not and that he needed to be truly honest with him. My son laughed and told the doctor that I was probably the last person in the world who would ever hit anyone and that I'd always taught him to never hit anyone unless it's self defense and then just to get away.

I told the doctor that I actually appreciated him asking.

It may be tough for the average deputy or police officer....I'll go that far. However, it seems, at least from what's been reported, that the police officers who were involved in this case absolutely, 100% failed to do their jobs. I draw this conclusion based on the article I read, which stated that no official reports were ever filed by the officers involved. I have a problem with that, and if is proved that these officers neglected their duty, then they all need to be charged as accessories to the crime. If that's not possible, they at minimum deserve nonfeasance charges

At least a couple of the police interactions sound like they should result in heavy discipline or even charges, for sure. The officer yelling at the security guard telling him that a child being burned isn't an emergency is a great example, if it can be confirmed.

Not a day goes by that I'm not grateful that my younger children weren't returned to their birth parents. I don't doubt that either or both could have had the same ending as this young boy did. The environment they were in was very similar, and if they had have told us that they were ever going to go back my wife and I probably would have tried something drastic to "disappear" with them rather than allow that.

So i texted my friend that lives in Lancaster about this article. He says he works with a dude that takes his kid to the same school as the kid in the story. The grandfather set up a fundraiser to cover funeral cost and whatnot, then bounced to mexico with the money.

Somebody, somewhere knew about this young boys abuse and did nothing about it......that is incredibly telling about the state of our society and lawsuit happy, PC people that keep good people from getting involved in shit like this.
I'm guessing lots of would be helpers just don't want the hassle of getting involved in a tragedy like that. Unbelievable the psychological damage that young boy is going to have to deal with for the rest of his life.

How can a Human being do this to a child and not be bothered by what they are responsible for doing? Or maybe worse is knowing this is happening and turning a blind eye. These assholes probably feel like they are doing the right thing in their messed up world.

I was not aware that the young boy had died.......what a staggering injustice for that child, to have to endure that from people that were supposed to love and care for him. I hope those animals pay....and death is too lenient in my opinion.

How about lock them up in solitary confinement with nothing but pictures of him laughing and playing to cover their jailhouse walls. Let them stare at that little boys innocent face for the rest of their miserable lives, so they never forget why they are locked away. And at least one meal a day needs to consist of cat shit......and they get no "real" food until the catshit is completely consumed by them every day.

Obviously these types of things take my kind heart to dark places.

So here's what I don't get. I worked on the fire side of L.A. County. We would get called on all kinds of shit by the deps in the jail, transport buses, people who after being arrested for shoplifting suddenly couldn't breath. all kinds of goofy shit, all just to CYA. We all knew they were dump offs but that's the way it is.What I don't get is why medics weren't called at least once. I've dealt with several child abuse cases including 2 that were homicides. We always took the child to the hospital. Once at the hospital we were to insure that a formal report was made. We were actually legally mandated to file a report if the hospital didn't do it. I think it is state law that makes reporting suspected child and elder abuse mandatory. Schools call for every little boo boo you can imagine, mostly when they can't get their parents so we could haul them to the hospital and relieve them of any liability. I don't get why the school didn't call.
This is all just horrible. There isn't a hell ugly enough for those 2 fucks.

I don't remember him. I'd guess they voted wrong and needed a lesson like IRS was used.

The stabbed guy is Chris McAbee, in 81 he got a 490 maico spider, may been a 82 model, single shock.

He had no competition in the 500 am ,no AMA back then. I had just gotten a 82 xr500 to ride the mountains and heard about muddy creek. Went one weekend and back then the track was 4 feet deep black sawdust, awsome.

He beat me but it was on since he is from here. MC ran ever 2 weeks with smoky mountain running between. It was back in behind oggles water park a mile.

I got stiff, huge springs for the pig xr and about 3 more races started winning on it ,starting last and passing everybody, god it was fun.

It finally snapped in half on the big then double jump along the cornfield mangling the frame beyond repair.

Good times.
