After being off a full on motocross bike for over 10 years. I did the only logical thing a sane 30 year old person would do and bought a new 450. One of the problems of being out of it for so long is I have nobody to ride with! I live in St. Augustine and just looking to make some new friends that hit up the tracks on a semi regular basis.

Im located in Orlando and hit up tracks 2-3 times a week.

You have some awesome tracks very close to you. WW, Bostwick, Pax. Theres a "backyard" track in greencove where alot of the pros swing by and ride before Daytona too. Pretty sure its open to the public.

What bike did you pick up?

I got a KTM 450 Factory Edition. I've been riding Pax and N Fl mx lately until i get my chops back, I'm rusty to say the least!

Were you at Pax last Thursday? I saw somebody there on a new-looking KTM FE.

You should look into joining the Florida Trail Riders. We are in the middle of our Hare Scrambles series. The next race is Jan 7-8th. I think it's in Brooksville and I think they offer one day memberships now. It's not moto but you get around 2.5hrs of seat time without having to worry about someone landing on your head. Even if you just go for some fun trail riding I bet you'll love it. Don't go out and attack it like a moto. Especially your first time. Just enjoy the trail riding and definitely talk to people. Most live in central florida and have all kinds of great places to ride. You will definitely find some riding partners if that is what you are looking for.

I agree with Jason. Check out Florida Trail Riders. You'll end up making 100+ friends to ride with! Plus, you'll have a blast.

I am not aware of any place to ride at all. It sucks here. The only time I ride is race day at the hare scrambles and maybe 2-3 times a year I make it out to a practice day at Okeechobee MX. That track was recently bought by someone and supposedly has made some upgrades but I haven't been out to check. Florida Track and Trails is not too far away and that is supposedly and awesome place to ride. Never been though.

Check with the guys at WMR (KTM dealer in Stuart). They have a small group of guys that belong to a "club" that has some property up in Fort Pierce with some good trails. Again, I've never done it but they keep telling me to give it a try. They'll let you come out and try before joining. You just need to go with someone who is already a member.

Thanks, I"ve been to Wmr, next time I go there I"ll ask about the "club" I did not bring my Xc this year because I have not been able to find any woods, in years past I have driven to Meet some friends at Croom, but that is a haul...I still like to moto at the tracks but pounding woods laps on my XC 300 is my favorite kind of riding, especially in the sand...I"m shocked there is not some kind of woods/ hare scrambles loops somewhere on the west side of 95, heading north from WPB.....

I hear James Stewart is sitting around doing not much. Should give him a ring and see if he knows anybody riding these days.

No woods in Jupiter/West Palm area. Only options are Florida Cycle Park (Okeechobee) or Mesa MX in Fellsmere. IMO, Florida Cycle Park is way better.

If you want trails, you'll have to make the venture to Crooms or Florida Track/Trails. Everything is pretty dry right now, so just about anywhere will be decent for the foreseeable future.

St. Augustine area you have Pax, WW and Orlando MX all within a pretty short shot.

Bostwick Creek MX Park in Green Cove Springs also has a 5mi trail loop in addition to the MX track. They are probably one of the closest tracks to you. About 30 minutes from Saint Augustine.

I'm a little south of Savannah but I ride at Bostwick and WW, haven't hit pax yet but I'd like too. I'm in a similar situation just getting back after 6 years off the bike.
