Here's a picture of the 1988 KX80 Big Wheel I just found. All original in great shape. It is a twin to the bike I had back in 88. Still searching for a nice 1976 KV75 (my first bike).

I replaced most of the steel hardware, with billet parts, still fabbing
items, more in the works for this bike

I love this thread, vintage minis are awesome. It's nice to see so many, in such perfect condition. I had to scroll through and look at them again.

Last time I looked I thought this, so this time I have to ask because I'm curious. Rob, what's with the big ass wrench? That couldn't possibly fit anything on that bike! Do you use it as an improvised sidestand or something? Inquiring minds want to know! Haha, just kidding, but I AM curious how it wound up in the photos. Great bike.

I am glad someone started this thread! Great stuff. Does anyone know where I can find the fabric grab handle that goes behind the seat for my 87' KX80?

Thought I had a better close up of her, but this will do.

Cool stuff.

I just started an 87 yz 80 with my 7 year old son. My first real race bike was a new 87 yz that I got for Christmas. He doesn't ride much but it's a project for us to work on and for him to tear something apart and learn about using a few tools (and putting them away). I figure he can ride this until he learns how to keep it on the pipe and some proper techniques before he needs a new expensive bike. The bonus is I'll have a replica of my old bike when we're done. I was given the bike...it was hammered. After a year on ebay I've got about 300 bucks into all the nos parts we need.

This is the only problem besides the strap, I need to fix. Wpark89, looking forward to seeing that build! Been looking for one just like it.

Flinthills, your collection is killing me! Especially the 88 and 89 CR250's. Man they're nice. They're all beautiful, but I guess I have a soft spot for those years in particular. I have an 88 CR125 that I've had since 92 or so. It's been neglected for a long time now, but getting ready to get it back to its former glory. If you have any extra plastic or any of the other compatible parts, let me know.

So nice to see all mini bikes, they bring back fine memories.

My dream bike in 93 was the new YZ80 but I couldn't afford a new bike then. Last summer I found a low hour bike at a fair price. I have cleaned it up and will have it as bedroom furniture Smile

I will keep it stock except HGS pipe and I have got an alternative plastic kit for it with MXA graphics.

Oh wow! I didn't realize they were 500s. I couldn't tell if the angle they were at, but that is bad ass. I know you don't ride them, but I'll bet they're a nasty handful.

Man, I'm so jealous. To me that was the golden era of motocross and dirt bikes in general.. I was a teenager and lived for riding. If I wasn't riding (Dawn to dusk) I was wrenching or lusting over the new bikes. Many people will disagree, but by the mid 90's, motorcycles got just about as good as they are today. Sure, suspension progresses, everything gets a little better, but those bikes were awesome. I'll always be a two stroke lover, and these bikes were some of the best ever made in my opinion...
