Looked a lot lIke Bubba in that Yamaha Milestone videovideo. Dropped front end in flight , wheel tapping, super smooth. Amazing he doesn't get better results , has always seemed so fast and smooth

Well he really hasn't had much chance to get better results because of injuries. Everyone knows even once you can race it takes awhile to get back to where you were, and getting hurt again during that period obviously doesn't help.

I feel you man Wilson got an awesome style on the bike. I hope he'll get a steady year in .. I'd love to see what a fit / healthy Wilson can do Outdoors.

He needs more than fit and healthy and that is confidence. I also hope he gets in a steady year like you said and that could bring it all out. The guy has some good skills.

Nothing official yet. Just preparing to be ready for A1. Hoping a spot is created at Yamaha and if not figuring out if he has privateer support for the West Coast SX.

He's in a tough spot, if he goes out and rallies support for a full privateer effort and then Factory Yamaha finds the budget to bring him in house, he would have to let down everyone that signed on to support him. But some companies are "flowing" him product in the mean time.

Also you can get more gear/goggle/boot money if you are on a factory team, so signing a gear deal now could be shooting yourself in the foot.

The next two weeks will be telling, if you start seeing footage from the Yamaha test track of him that will probably indicate he will be on one of their teams. Up until now he has been on public tracks and the PC track.

Someone is going to get a great deal this year on Dean. He looks really good on the Yamaha, and it's pretty stock (SX Suspension/PC exhaust/Works Connection hardware). With more time on the bike he will only get better.

Thanks, great info. He would probably be best suited following the path you have outlined, as he will most certainly be the first call when one of the factory teams needs a full or part time replacement. If Dean can stay healthy I think the results will come, and he will be back on full factory supported equipment very soon. Is there any chance he ends up with RCH, depending on the level of sponsorship or other factors with the team? When was the last time he has ridden other than Yamaha, publicly or privately? Wasn't he riding a Suzuki for a while?

Not sure where I heard it, but sounds like he's on the 450 for Star racing during supercross and factory Yamaha outdoors.

Is that a signed deal, something in the works, or the last minute back up plan if nothing else materializes? It would be interesting to see what he could do in the SX450 class on Star's equipment. I hope he doesn't have to resort to 250West.

He rode Vital MX's Suzuki for a couple weeks to get a feel for the stock bike and there was still a chance at an RCH spot. Those spots were still tentative at the time, but with the rumors of money trouble for RCH and having been burned once by a team folding on him, and with Tickle/Bogle/Weimer all in the mix at RCH, it was best to move onto a different brand.

Yamaha or Kawasaki would be the best bet for a fill in role or another spot opening up.

My money is on a third Factory Yamaha spot.

The Star racing ride for Supercross and moving to Factory Yamaha for motocross gets weird when it comes to conflicting sponsors: Factory Yamaha=Monster/PC, Star=Rockstar/FMF/Thor, where there is a will there is a way though.

He pointed out of 250 SX.

They are just rumors about riding for Star for SX.

He could share a sprinter van with Malcom and have some fun as privateers.

What about KTM/Husqvarna? It seems that Deano and DeCoster are on favorable terms, and that's the last bike Dean raced. Among the seven factory riders on their teams, odds are better than even that a replacement would be needed before long. Pourcel, Canard, Millsaps & Baggett have all missed significant time, and Anderson and Dungey both missed a majority of the outdoor schedule. Musquin has been dealing with a wrist injury on and off for a while. With so many riders, combined with the high attrition rate of SX, its likely that somebody's season could end within the first few weeks.

For him to get a Kawi ride, wouldn't that mean a long term injury to Tomac or Grant? The odds seem less likely than a spot opening up with KTM. It seems like every season begins with the most stacked field ever, and ends with the most decimated field ever.

Broc Tickle got bumped a year early during his two year contract at PC, so he was under an existing contract when Mitch did a 450 for him all year.

The KTM/Husky ship sailed. There was some hope before the end of the season, Factory KTM doesn't normally fill in, they didn't fill Dean's vacancy or Dungey's.

Husky didn't fill Pourcell's or Anderson's spots when they were out.

The Rocky MT team isn't a factory team so their budgets probably can't absorb another ride. Last year they subbed in Bloss, who will also be their sub if needed again in 450 SX.

As far as Kawasaki they have filled in the second seat there the past couple of years. Dean has a history with Kawasaki, but he has been passed over for a Factory Kawasaki spot several times.

The Yamaha spot could be a real full time spot, for this year and moving forward.
