Every year we buy our SX tickets at the stadium (Anaheim) This year we have been told Feld took away the rights for the stadium to sell tickets through their box office and we can only buy tickets through online ticket brokers, to the tune of an extra $12.50 - $13.50 per ticket. I usually get 5 so an extra 67.50 this year. We haven't missed A-1 as long as it's been there and will be there Jan 7th,... but the couch is looking better and better. I know of two people who aren't going just on sheer principle. I think A-1 will sell out regardless because it's the opener, but I'm wondering if that decision will keep more people at home ? Is an extra 12.50 a ticket a deal breaker for you ? Oh, no discounted seats for kids either, every seat is full boat. I was told they would be available "At Racetime" but limited to whatever (if any) seats are left

Those service charges are crap. I work down the street from Sprint center where all the major concerts are held (no SX) and luckily we can buy tickets there at face value, no stupid $15 service fee per ticket.

The guy I talked to at the stadium, "I don't know man I don't know why they changed it this year but lots of people have showed up to get tickets like they always do and got turned around, they we're pissed" Haha yeah no shit lol

Dont go, watch on TV.

Sport is on its arse and the people that are keeping it above water , are fed up of getting raped for tickets.

A $33 dollar ticket on Stub Hub becomes $41.44 including all fees. A $8.44 boost

Ticketmaster service fee prices are set At 12.5 %.

Feld you would think would make it easier to purchase tickets. Its not like Feld receives the additional 12.5 % for the 'Show'

You've got to think this is seriously seriously going to hurt attendance. Seems crazy to me. What reason could they have for not allowing people to buy tickets at the stadiums?

Tickets to Dallas continue to be ridiculous. Over $115 a ticket for good seats. $50 for nose bleed.

I was talking to a customer last week who is going to his first supercross. Paid almost $200 for a PAIR of tickets. Said he couldn't buy direct from the stadium (Rogers Centre-Toronto round) This is bullshit.

After much debating the decision is we're going to go camping in Ocotillo Wells that weekend and watch it out there. It's the exact same price except we'll be riding for 2 days. Dumbfuks are pricing themselves right out of the game. After doing the math I'd be at close to $500.00 to take 4 people to A-1. Not to sound like a cheapo but for that I'd rather camp and ride for 2 days, plus watch it on tv. No brainer

i wish more people would vote with their wallet. But alot of people do not care i guess.... I'm going to just stay at home.. go moto or mtb in the morning then watch the race's later that night.

Some more info on this recently got passed along to me. Check below...

An earlier thread on the board brought up an issue about purchasing tickets from the box office at Angel Stadium for the Anaheim Opener. We have discussed this concern with Feld and they have helped clear up the situation. First and foremost, tickets WILL be available at the box office in early December. This change in practice is in response to an overwhelming consumption of inventory by ticket brokers in the early portion of the on sale. As a result, Feld is fighting to save ticket purchasers from being forced to go to brokers, where they are subject to unnecessarily high prices and fees. Moreover, the inventory consumed by brokers were in sections of the stadium with the highest demand. This new methodology will hopefully ensure ticket purchasers have the chance to buy the tickets they want, at the advertised price. It’s also a practice you might find at some other venues on the schedule, so please keep this in mind.

Tickets to the Anaheim Opener start at just $20, but prices are subject to market demand and availability.

As a reminder, all tickets to every event are available online at any time. Simply log onto SupercrossLive.com and select your event of choice for more details.

It’s also important to note that each individual venue on the schedule will feature its own policies regarding tickets, whether that’s the ticket supplier, box office availability, and the fees associated with purchasing the tickets. If you encounter any issues while purchasing tickets or are looking for more information, you can always use the Contact Form on the Supercross site.

On Ticketmaster I'm showing tickets ranging from $15 for the nosebleeds up to $80 for the club level (before fees).

Makes sense. Ticket scalpers buying up all the good seats is indeed a huge problem and it's good to see that they're trying to take steps to alleviate it.

We are going to A2 and Glendale SX, when we are over again in January, my son wanted to go to a basketball game. I bought tickets for the Clippers V GS Warriors game, these are nosebleed seats that cost the season ticket holder $25 dollars. I bought them from ticketmaster "resale" they were $159 each plus service fee of $50.

If you are an AMA member, you can save $5 per ticket using AMASX17 on ticketmaster.com as an offer code.

p.s. you can use that code if you aren't an AMA member too.

The supercross races are priced too high. I think that is the reason we lost Houston and see low turnout in some spots. Hardcore fans of the sport will pay and attend. The casual fan or someone that doesn't know much about the sport will not spend a couple hundred just to take their family to a Saturday night event that they don't know much about.

Contrast this to monster jams...they have affordable ticket prices and the stadiums pack with families and fans. Reliant stadium packed with 3 separate shows last year! The supercross crowd was just a fraction of that in recent years. You can't attract casual fans when the prices are so high that only the dedicated will attend.

That's a bit of a weak explanation. If it's a box office issue, maybe only sell 10 tickets per ID, clears up that issue. No scalper is going to be lining up a bunch of paid strangers to be buying tickets for SX. (edited)

Oh, and available online with "fee's" that make a ticket a good 25% more expensive..

Monster Jam ain't racing, it's just another Feld circus with V8s. Let's hope they don't turn SX into more of a show and less of a race, in an attempt to attract more casual fans. It's close enough already.

I'm not sure why they would consider it the best practice for A1 and then......

If I was a promoter and see that people are paying $110 for a ticket I normally sell for $60, I would cut those brokers out and start charging $110 myself. I don't get concert and race promoters.

That would have been cool information to pass onto whoever answers the phone when you call the stadium. Maybe even give out the exact date they'll be available ? And maybe the date for A-2 as well ? Just a thought.

Could it be because Ticketmaster are promoting the event via their communication channels?
I guess they have a large number of email subscribers to whom they send newsletters about the event.

My guess it's a security issue. If you buy a ticket on line they have a trail of persons in stadium. They know who's there and can background check them for security purposes ahead of the event. 80k fans in Atlanta, is a big soft target for some angry anti American.

Same reason you check in on the air plane

GSW is an expensive ticket this year. Good thing they weren't playing the Lakers you would have paid even more.

The aftermarket ticket companies do buy in huge lots, but rarely sell all of their supply. The unsold tickets will be available at the event for a fraction of what you would pay beforehand. I have never had a problem getting event tickets on the event day, typically for significantly less than face value. Every time I get tickets ahead of time, something comes up and I can't make it. This approach is great for 1-4 tickets, but if you need more contiguous seats than 4, it could be risky, and it's best to get there early and have a little patience. Don't buy from the first guy offering tickets, but use his price as a guideline.

Does anyone know what the situation is on this now that we are further into the season? I've been asked to go to detroit for work the week the supercross is on (nice) and I looked at tickets. As a measure I selected one of the lower ticket prices online and a $48 ticket ends up being $129.90 for two which is a little mad. So, I wondered if there is an option to buy them on the day and avoid the fees?

Not sure if it is different per venue, but thought someone with either local knowledge or that has been to past rounds might be able to add some insight?

Per ticket price: $48
2 tickets: $96
Handling Fee $5.00
Facility Fee $4.00
Convenience Fee $24.90
Amount to be charged to your credit card $129.90
