This bike was going to the dump, I got lucky (or unlucky
) and saved it. I thought it was going to my parts inventory but after looking things over its not a terrible as it looks. Sure, it has wire, tape, and zipties holding it together, typical imperial hardware installed on the frame in places, bailing wire for the rear brake rod/cable! The good news, it runs.
It came with what looks to be an 83/84 kx front end, but I put on an 81 cr250 assembly I had. Wrong rear brake panel installed, its incorrectly spaced and the lever interferes with the swingarm. Spark is strong. Wheels spin very true, no dents! Tiny bit of play in the linkage. No axles or shafts rusted in. No dents on frame rails, small dent and jb repair on the pipe. Wrong silencer which was welded to the frame. Stator cover/sprocket guard broken, but I may fab up a separate sprocket cover, in time
The next thing to check is the infamous water pump. I got lucky with my 85 cr125....fingers crossed
Anyone have any build tips on this one? I know the usual frame cracks, bearings, pump cover.
First pic of it at first sight.

After some cleanup

Here in canada we just dont find gems like MXM does, this one is typical, or better

It was a good solid bike.
Later in that year i was conned into buying a white power shock, which was total rubbish even though it was custom valved for me.
My mates CR250 had a grenade for a gearbox!
