Somebody answer me this . All the guys that wrench for the SX only riders, do they get paid less because they are only working half a year ?

Take Goose, he worked for RC SX & Outdoors for years but now he just does SX and by May will be done. Yeah I'm sure he still works at the race shop or whatever but probably isn't working weekends etc like the outdoor guys.

I'd like a sensible answer if possible- thanks!

Brian Calma, is Kevin Windham's Mechanic. I spoke to him at A1 press day, and he likes the fact he has the summers off. As far as pay, I guess he is paid enough to enjoy a few months off. When he worked for me, he got minimal...AND LIKED IT !!!

Most of them are making enough to take the rest of the year off.

I need some stickers made for my road and TT bike.

Its hard to make that call for Goose since he is such a seasoned and experienced mechanic. I think he does well regardless.
Most of the factory guys im sure do well and its a full time job for them weather they are at the track or not.
Some of the other guys i would assume they would need to look for work in the offseason.

Nobody gets the summer off without a pay cut. I know Goose stayed on as do the other guys. There's always work to be done somewhere on somebodys bike.

When Goose isn't on the road wrenching you can normally find him at the race shop in Brea.

Dont kid yourself, there isnt to many mechanics in the pits that can afford to work half a year. He is employed by Suzuki not Reed, and they dont shut down for the summer. There is plenty to do without Chad there.

remember that rider poll that said reed was cheap to his mechanics?

that poll also said carmichael was extremely generous.

if reed wins the title you think he throws goose $100k?

the "new" reed that is. i mean he likes his bike, must have something to do with goose no?

Goose was in Australia with Reed during the USA off season for the Super X series. No doubt one of the reasons hes so well prepaired for 09. Nobodys getting time off lol

While the factory wrenches make considerably more that the Privateer wrenches everyone does it not for the bucks but to be at the races. The hours you put in can't justify the pay. IMHO

oh come on...

16 damn races...big deal

its not like these bikes are DKW's that break down every ride

power wash the bike, check the tire pressure, put some gas in it, tell the suspension guy to fix the forks, tell the motor guy to rebuilt the engine....

In the late 90s there was also a shop at Brea (Main offices) that Tool time worked out of. Goose wasn't with Suzuki then but it wasn't uncommon for Berlutie or Lee to be working there.

Box Van stories...Most of the Honda mechanics would see Jake Thompson from Showa then driving his box van, turn off their lights pull up behind him or on the side of him shut off their engines and restart while driving, he said it would scare the shit out of him the noise was so loud...
