I watched a helmet cam of where they hold the mini O's, it definitely looks ALOT like a MXGP.

I think that would be an AWESOME place to hold a national.

After living in FL for years I would say the motocross fans there would go to Gatorback to watch an MXGP to reward them for bring pro motocross back to FL. The fans there really want it. Good group of fans in FL.

Gatorback was a sick national.....as a young man back in the 92-97....ran it GoldCup...Winter Am... Winter mini Olympics......now im on the westcoast....Bring back Gatorback.....that was a gnarly track....i compare it to Glen helen.....very similar.......except i dare say Gatorback was longer lap times........both are gladiator tracks....

I was there as well, I have a picture of them together the lap before.

Yes they are but they can build a better track on a better facility than any of these old, privately owned, no cell signal, one lane road, rider ridden 1000's of times over rated dirt bowls. Get with the times promoters !

Let's use your criteria, and see how many qualify...at least based on my experience.

May 20
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Prairie City SVRA; Rancho Cordova, CA
Sorry, nope. You can find all of those (gas, hotel, restaurants and bars) within 15 minutes of the track. Cell service (Verizon) is usually good. They do bring in extra towers for the race

May 27
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Glen Helen Raceway; San Bernardino, CA
Same as above. Cell service (Verizon) can be spotty, depending on where you are in the facility.

June 3
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Thunder Valley MX Park; Lakewood, CO
This one is about as close to a major metropolitan area as you can get. Cell service (Verizon) is okay, but not stellar

June 17
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: High Point Raceway; Mt. Morris, PA
Running into Morgantown is a little bit more of a stretch than the previous three rounds, but there's plenty of civilization there. Cell service (Verizon)...Bahahaha! You might as well be in a third world country.

June 24
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Muddy Creek Raceway; Blountville, TN
You can easily find food, gas and lodging within about 15 minutes. Way more options if you stretch it into Bristol. Cell service (Verizon) is fine.

July 1
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: RedBud MX; Buchanan, MI
I'd call this one similar to High Point. It's more of a stretch to run towards South Bend, where your better options for food, lodging, and entertainment are. Of course, there's plenty of entertainment in Lot B. Cell service? I don't remember it being great for Verizon, but you're also not cut off from the world.

July 8
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Southwick National; Southwick, MA
Food and gas are close by. Lodging is better in Hartford. I don't remember cell service being particularly great.

July 22
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Spring Creek MX Park; Millville, MN
Millville is a bit like being cut off from the world. You can get gas and a small selection of supplies 15-20 minutes from the track, but plan on bringing your own supplies. If you're not camping at the track, plan on driving to Rochester, or Lake City for Lodging. Verizon? Third world country status. You have to drive about halfway to Rochester to get good cell signal (for uploading videos, etc.)

July 29
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Washougal MX Park; Washougal, WA
Portland is about 30 minutes away. There's some food and gas closer than that, but most of your lodging options are near Portland or Vancouver (WA). Cell signal is okayish.

August 12
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Unadilla MX; New Berlin, NY
Maybe the most far-flung as far as civilization goes. The surprise this year was that there was some Verizon signal.

August 19
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Budds Creek MX Park; Mechanicsville, MD
Plenty of lodging, food and gas options within 20 minutes. Okay cell service.

August 26
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship: Ironman Raceway; Crawfordsville, IN
Food, fuel, and shopping are close by. I generally stay a bit further than Crawfordsville, but lodging's not bad. Cell service is okay.

I know it probably has been brought up before, but is there a specific reason why Washougal and Unadilla are back to back races? I know they get the break, but damn that's a haul

yes, with no traffic that is correct.major change is way overdue but I understand why they will not and it's not because of the history or that it's been that way for around 4 light years

Now this is a man with some comprehensive well accumulated information, either a dedicated moto fan...or a ex pro.....love it....wish i had that kind of travel history, i can only lay claim to Socal, Florida and Arizona, Tenn......definitely good info,if your making the travels thru the outdoors, it would be pretty cool to rotate some of the old tracks once in awhile...SteelCity...Pala..Broome tioga...solid move on getting southwick back on board......but hell their could be condos now where those old national tracks are now.....the southeast has some of the best dirt ever that's for sure...dadecity Mx....Marion county mx(reddick)....WW ranch looks sick....but those faculties with awesome dirt can barely hold a amature regional, it would be incrediable to see Gatorback run their old extended layout, huge lap times, brutal but Mx at its nastiest

I will just file my complaint here with the other 26+ million Texans. We are the 2nd most populated state, maybe more if you count everyone, and if you are in the center of the state you will have to drive at least 12 hours to reach the closest outdoor national. We are sorry that it gets hot here, suck it up buttercup, we used to have outdoor races in St. Pete in August and they were 45+2. Man up! How about a little love for us, we don't even have the Houston SX anymore...

You had a national. No one showed so it's gone.

I attended every national at Wortham, while that might be true for the first two years the last two were packed and it was gaining tons of traction without any promotion, if IRC the last year was well over 30K, The real problem was when the Heat almost killed half the field, the finish line looked like battlefield carnage. The following year was not nearly as hot and that was the year Wilson went delirious while leading. I honestly think to grow the sport (competition) you go to 3-20 minute moto's (better for fans, less separation more sprinting) and quit criss-crossing the states.

It isn't a matter of "manning up," as you so eloquently put it. Tomac was in great shape when he broke down, but sometimes the heat is dangerous for guys pushing their bodies to those kinds of limits.

What do you Florida guys think about Florida T&T? I've never been but looks awesome. Could it handle one?

Also, I've been to WW and it's a great facility. Track owners are great people.
Only downside I would say is it's flat as a pancake there.

FTT is also flat as a pancake. They did an awesome job adding elevation to the track but as far as spectating goes you can't get very close. Also there's no trees for shade. They have plenty of room for parking though. Definitely in my top 3 tracks on the east coast as far as riding goes.

Gatorback was always good. Shame they don't race there anymore. Better then atleast half the tracks on the current schedule. Unfortunately I've forgotten more good tracks I've raced at then I can remember.
