That's Pauls Jonass. Last year in Mexico racing for the championship with Gajser. Glen Helen was the only remaining round after this and if I'm not mistaken they were very close in the points standing at this point.

Just like Reed he got quite lucky he landed in a downhill and not flat. Still amazed he bounced back up so quick

DeCoster on Shu in '82:

Darrell Schultz was our guy in the open class, and he won that title. He had a very bad knee. He had so much play in his knee that at times he could barely stand. We were very worried about him, especially towards the end of the year when he was in it for the championship. I remember him saying ‘Rog, don’t worry, I’m going to win’. He had such a strong mind, and was able to take pain so well. I tell you, that guy had character. It took sheer will-power for him to win under those circumstances. We won three out of the four championships that year.

Here's a pic from Dungey's epic ride as he takes off just before the leaders complete the first lap. His mom Michelle echo's his attitude in that moto!

His mum is my favourite part in that whole situation, in the video you see her consoling her son in his time of need then boom she turns to motivator as soon as she sees the bike come over the hill.. Makes me well up every time haha..
I reckon you can tell the man Ryan Dungey is has a lot to do with his parents

I dont have a pic but when I was on 80's, there was a guy (man) that had no right hand. He welded a vertical bar on the right side of his handle bars. That way he could use his hook. Controls were all on the left side. He was no slouch.

Oh yeah, he rode CR 500!
