First of all look at the gate picks.....15 and 30. This on a track that rewards starts above all else. This is not a track that provides a lot of passing options. It's not rough, it's one short straight away after another.....into one lined turns after another. If you have open track you can make good time but if your behind multiple riders its going to to take a lot of time to find areas to pass. The only place I say passing options was that uphill jump into the turn. I don't believe any rider that doesn't start in the top 5 has a chance at winning. There were quite a few marginal riders that stayed in the top 10 just because the had a good start. Logic says that this track and these start positions will lead to maybe a top 5. I must say that having a MXDN on a track with limiting passing options is not in the interest of the fans...unless your team gets great starts.

Cooper needs to carry the other 2 and even that won't be enough.

I think team US has a bigger problem than starts with supposedly anderson broken foot.

I suppose you didn't see the last start when JH pulled the holeshot from the outside gate? I think he had gate pick #32 so pretty sure 15th and 30th gate pick will be just fine (not ideal but can more than enough get the job done). Also in that very same race Jason Anderson came from last to 14th. With longer motos tomorrow I'm sure they will be just fine. But Hey, way to have your Country's back.

Tommy Searle ended up third in his MXGP race and made note that the track was very rough and that he thought it was ok for passing despite what we had heard from others.

Van Horebeek said he crashed on the first lap and was around eighth so he was happy to have a good day and qualify Belgium in second as “that’s all we need for today.”

One good thing for Team USA is that both Cairoli and Herlings pulled the holeshot from gate picks outside the top thirty. The starts at a lot of GP tracks favor the insides but this one is pretty fair and equal.

Is the track hard to pass on? Are starts super important? Are the gate picks shitty? Amart and Anderson are not good starters. I haven't heard any reasons for your belief they can win with these gate picks on a horrible track to pass on. I'm waiting....

Yea absolutely- they have a chance for sure, as ALL the teams do.

As for the theory 'on bad starts from bad gate picks', then this has already been proved wrong, Harlings holeshot it from gate 30 (or may have been 32) !! Whistling or doesn't he count!?

Yes, his name was Villopoto. He won in 2006 as a rookie, then 2007 and 2008 and 2011.

Here's why you have no idea what you're talking about: The race hasn't happened yet.

Your math is off, it will be gate picks 15 and 35, not 15 and 30 ;-)

Its not just one straight away after another as you put it, track is prime and the faster riders will find a way to the front , they always do.

Oh, the excuses...

Did you watch with rose tinted glasses, because everything you've stated could be blown out of water with an example that suggests otherwise.

Tomorrow is another day!

I will put a fifty on it that Team USA won't be on the podium. I won't keep your fifty but instead will donate it to Jessie Nelson's fund.

Bad luck today, good luck tomorrow...
