I am sure proud of him!! Smile Thanks for all the support and kind words guys.

Dad was sadly not there this week although he considered many times during the week of making a trip over there. So no major bike work although Robbie really does know his stuff on a bike and can do it himself. It is very rare for him to not be at a race. Robbie wasn't even positive he was going to race, but so glad he did!

Regardless of a title or epic 3rd moto finish we all hoped for, I am amazed by how his other 2 motos and the 7 laps of the 3rd one went. We can all look at what didn't happen or we can say WOW look at what DID. He came from behind due to letting them go on the gate, since he knew he wouldn't hang with them on the start being on a 125 and worked hard to pass several riders per lap to finish a 3rd in the 1st moto and to win the 2nd moto by 19 sec in the mud. In the 3rd moto, he was in 18th by the end of lap 1 and moved to 14th on the next lap, 7th on the next, 5th, and then 4th and then his bike started acting up and he slowly slipped back the remaining 2 laps he finished and DNF'd with 2 laps to go. It is heart breaking, but man I would have given anything to watch every single lap he rode this week. I had so many messages about how amazing, impressive, that words couldn't describe the way he looked out there or the way he was passing people.
Robbie is often said to be naturally talented, but his natural ability came with years of work and practice. Studying a track and finding lines where no one else can or would go and make them work or seeing another way of taking a turn is what makes him great. (I LOVE watching him through turns) I know this is definitely a part of his program he trains the kids on and I can bet we will see many more great "naturally talented" riders in the future.

I am just incredibly proud of him! At the age of 39 to still be turning fast laps, having fun and making our sport great says a lot. I can only imagine how his joints feel from all the injuries, but I think him staying active doing what he loves makes it a little easier to bear. I say keep doing what makes you smile for as long as you can! I think next year might have to be a full family event at LL's again. It is so much fun!!

I still have a I Support Robbie t-shirt that you were selling about ten years ago.

Congrats to RR-guy can still haul the mail. Too bad there wasn't a 125 class any more-he could come back and show the kids whats up! But to ride a 125, then let them all go on the start, and come back to win or finish top 3 is so impressive. I saw him ride the 125 at Millville back in the day-crazy fast. RRsis17, I know you aren't here all that much any more-good of you to drop in. Cheers.

I just watched the 3rd race a little while ago,I feel so bad for RR ,he was riding awesome coming from so far back to getting in position to win the championship then having the bike blow up with a few laps to go.
I love watching Robbie ride,I first saw him ride at the Orlando SX in 1993 or 1994,He unfortunately hurt his wrist at that race. I've taken many photos of him at the Nationals, Arenacross and a few Supercross races too.
I'm sure he will be back next year.

Shouldn't you be more concerned with the top prospects in the sport, as opposed to a bunch of pros who used to race at the highest level now running an "amateur" race.

Make a +25 never held an ama license class and a +25 ripper (ex pro) class

So the amateur "national champion" in an age category should be a lot slower than someone his same age? RR17 is almost 40 and winning +25 on a bike 1/4 the displacement of his competition. If this somehow annoys you or you think it's "wrong" you're just bitter. At the end of the day it is for a title, fastest guy wins. And just to be clear, this is coming from someone who would love to mix it up for a title there, but I'll never beat a lot of those guys. Best I can claim is 6th OA in 2010 in +30.
He is right.

And go RR!!!

Bet he burns more calories starting that 125 than he does riding it. Guy is as close to perfection in the technical aspect as they come.

If CycleTrader or someone sold Robbie Reynard t-shirts I would buy 2.
He is one of the all time greats of the sport.

Dude speaking of t-shirts. Brought back memories. I Remember back in 8th grade (94)when I first started racing, I had this black fox RR t-shirt. It had him on the back leaned over in a turn. So cool! Was by far my favorite shirt. Wore that thing out! Pretty sure this was the shot on the back.....

I'm curious RRsis17, did that bike sit out overnight ? Was it left where a person could have a few minutes or even seconds with it unseen?

Yes, like many others at the races, the bike was locked up under a lowered easy up right next to the camper, but we would like to think no one would go to that level. Things happen and machines do break.

Great post Cherie...

One thing that sucks with the "naturally talented" label... it always comes with a "but" and never acknowledges the pure work it takes to get the first label...

Definitely one of my all time favourite guys to watch ride and still the songs that make me kill it in the gym are those he had in Terrafirma's...

Your brother is a bad dude.
