OT but involves security. I work on an experimental military aircraft. We are finally going "hot"...weaponizing the plane. This opened up a bucket of worms with ATF, Homeland Security you can not imagine. The level of training/licensing required is far beyond management expectations....READ COST.

Honestly if I was an athlete and I spent years and thousands of dollars preparing for this possibly one shot at the games. I'd be so unbelievably pissed at the OOC for putting it there. It would be equal to putting the games in Chicago back in the 30's and 40's. (yes some would say today as well ...)

Munich anyone......?

My dad was the foreman of a model shop that got some RD work for government aircraft ,he had to apply for a certain level of clearance form the government ,i remember the booklet of questions he had to answer was probably a half inch thick . After he submitted it and they looked it over, they reviewed it with for information that didn't jive with waht they found ,one of their findings was he spelled his second grade teachers name wrong . Who ever was in charge of the fact checking ,really did their homework. Even though it was probably 15 years ago or more , he still can't and won't say what they worked on.

I've signed many non-disclosure agreements. Secrecy is crazy on these projects.

Let The games begin!

Australians robbed in Olympic Village when they evacuated their rooms for a fire, in a dumpster.

Chinese hurdler and cameraman had possessions stolen in hotel lobby, got vomited on then robbed when going to bathroom to clean up.

The IOC has a nice little scam going, they are getting rich and living like rock stars

7,000-page dossier from the IOC, Norway chose to withdrawal. The “diva-like demands for luxury treatment” for the IOC were outlined by the Norwegian media, including:

They demand to meet the king prior to the opening ceremony. Afterwards, there shall be a cocktail reception.

Drinks shall be paid for by the Royal Palace or the local organizing committee.

Separate lanes should be created on all roads where IOC members will travel, which are not to be used by regular people or public transportation.

A welcome greeting from the local Olympic boss and the hotel manager should be presented in IOC members’ rooms, along with fruit and cakes of the season. (Seasonal fruit in Oslo in February is a challenge…)

The hotel bar at their hotel should extend its hours “extra late” and the minibars must stock Coke products.

The IOC president shall be welcomed ceremoniously on the runway when he arrives.

The IOC members should have separate entrances and exits to and from the airport.

During the opening and closing ceremonies a fully stocked bar shall be available. During competition days, wine and beer will do at the stadium lounge.

IOC members shall be greeted with a smile when arriving at their hotel.

Meeting rooms shall be kept at exactly 20 degrees Celsius at all times.

The hot food offered in the lounges at venues should be replaced at regular intervals, as IOC members might “risk” having to eat several meals at the same lounge during the Olympics.

I'm not sure it would have been worse in Somolia, Iraq, or Afghanistan.
