roczen said tomac was faster and he let him by to see his lines but couldn't match eli's pace. roczen has been the fastes guy for the majority of races, so it makes no sense that he let eli have the win, even in moto 1 he had a higher pace so why would he roll over to hand tomac another win and confidence.

Right! And with roczen switching teams I wouldn't be surprised to see the rolls reversed next summer.

When you see a big difference between moto 1 and moto 2 performance in the same rider, it's probably not the rider.

What I see is To mac is having a lot of trouble mid turn with the front wheel loosing traction for a second or so.

I was at the track and noticed the same thing. In the First Moto he'd hesitate in the apex, something I can't recall him doing on the Honda

It's not that he just let him win, but he realised that there was no point pushing and taking risks to try and match Eli's pace. Once he saw the pace Tomac had I don't think he was ever really interested in trying to stay with him, because he knew he probably wouldn't be able to anyway

I think the mental game is "you only win if I have an off day and let you by".. but yeah, he did admit tomac was faster that day

That outside pass he put on Marvin was amazing. I am not sure what was going on with Tomac the first half of moto 1, but the rest was the old Tomac and great to watch.

true, but Tomac will already have more seat time while Kroc might be struggling a little bit to find that setting that he found on the suzuki. just an observation

Tomac hasn't dominated Roczen for nearly 4 years now. I don't know how anyone can say he normally dominates. He's like a yo-yo, up, down, up, down

Roczen said "humble in victory and humble in defeat". Pretty solid.

It looked to me like Eli is learning to steer that Kawi with the back wheel more and more ala RV. It may be a new chassis but it still looks like it handles like their previous bikes.

Tomac is still fighting that Kawasaki. It seems like the front is too soft or spongy at the top when he enters a corner. I dunno. He definitely is not as comfortable on it yet like he was on his Honda. On the Honda he could do just about anything on it. He seems still timid on the KX in certain motos/tracks.

Hopefully he feels more dialed in next year. Ken this year reminds me of how Tomac was at the start of last year. Just a beast and can make the bike do what he wants when he wants it without any fear of the bike not doing exactly what you want or think it will do. At Millville, Ken was so dialed in on that bike second moto. It was an absolute thing of beauty when man and machine come together like that and just annihilate the field.

Hondas and suzukis corner pretty dang good. I dont see roczen having a lot of issues. the kawaski is the polar opposite. the truth will be in the pudding when we go back to Sx . if tomac struggles again we know its the bike still

Its been touch and go for a decent portion of the year for Tomac. I think the fact that he is now consistently in the conversation about winning is huge. Yeah, he still appears to yo-yo a little bit, but now he is yo-yo'ing at the front, with Kenny.

I think he will work his way back up to being a threat everytime he lines up. If Tomac finds his pinnacle speed again, it will be interesting to see how he manages it.

Additionally, Tomac has been in the 450 class since '14 and has had big changes before each one. '14, rookie year, new class, different bike, etc. '15 showed that he progressed but had the huge injury setback. Finally, he entered the '16 season after lot of time off the bike, dealing with the injury recovery, and a whole new team and a new bike. Not to mention any mental issues that can sometimes come after big injuries. To me, its actually remarkable where he is now.

Eh?

They've bot got a regional title against each other. About have a national title against each other.

Are you counting Kenny's 14 title? Eli didn't start that 450 season till Millville right?

Eli won his West coast SX 250 title in 2012, when Ken Roczen was on the East coast... Ken lost that title to Justin Barcia.
