Don't know if this topic came up yet but of course noticed he was commentating some of the gp races. Anyone know why or how that came about?

Don't know how it came about but he did a good job and seems to get on well with Paul Malin, they are good together, would be happy for him to see the season out.... Wanted to meet him at Matterley but it didn't happen.
Think he has a new found respect for MXGP now he has personal experience of it and his tone of voice while watching Herlings in Italy was of sheer disbelief, I know he takes a lot of flack on here and I'm not a huge fan but Herlings really is something very special.....

Emig did the commentary along with Paul Malin for the last four MXoN's and last year's USGP already.

I think it's a Monster Energy deal that was part of the races Reed was doing too.

If anything it gives him great in depth knowledge about the series and makes the commentary for MXdN better. After all, about 90% of all riders in MXdN rides that series.

I think he was in Europe for some Shift 2017 related events, so the timing worked out.

After you listen to Emig it makes you realize how good Langston is in the booth.

He did a riding school in Britain and then stayed over there for a couple races. Actually I like them both, Weingandt is the one that is annoying as hell.

True, Langston flows better and owns it, while Emig seems more like a guest.

I think Emig mentioned way more times that reed was a 2x monster energy SX champion and I maybe heard him once mention Reed was an outdoor champion.
I noticed he never even tried pronouncing the names of the back markers and I don't blame him.
Overall I enjoyed him in the booth.
Malin is a top commentator but he gots to stop shouting when a rider comes off.

Emig goes to pay respect to Malin,
Malin handed a wipping to Emig in 1994 MXDN.

You are right, Milan does get excited when there is a near get off of a crash. As far as announcing MX he has no equal. The guy is awesome.

Weege could be good but he is stuck in the mudd half the time. The worst is when he starts adding points up for the overall after the first corner of the second moto and does not stop. He is alot like Emig. After he checks off his talking points he gets lost. Langston does a great job carrying him though the moto.

He was in Italy as well. Did some announcing during a pitbike race where they gave away helmets. Not sure what else he did at Mantova.

I think Malin & Emig do the best TV MX commentary that's ever been done. Interesting, informative, and not over the top.

See i'd love to see Weege and Malin together i think they're both awesome commentators.
Malin is amazing in the sense he can comentate 4 30+2 motos by himself and its still good and very informative.

yer on crack man. weege is one of the best. adding points is actually helpful to 90% of the audience who have to chase motos around on different channels...so to you it seems retarded, but to the rest of the average audience its actually probably needed.

I don't really think it has to do with riding the 250 class. Modern social media breeds trolls, like it or not. I think even the biggest haters really know how much talent he possesses but will say anything and everything to get a rise out of the non American contingent.

Jeff has excelled and works good with Malin. I think Jeff appreciates the new experience and the professionalism and energy of the Circus. If you are part of it you become family, you are around them almost 4 full days every race weekend

What I noticed was the differences between commentary styles, Emig is used to over explaining things for the 'new viewer' like he was explaining what tear offs were at one point, where Malin never really does any of that I guess he'd kinda just assume that the people that are watching it online know those things..

I'm not saying either is good or bad just what I noticed..

Edit: anyone saying Malin needs to stop yelling needs to chill.. I reckon it's good, makes me laugh

haha gold! Way better than just staying mono tone also makes me laugh that whenever someone crashes 'they got it completely wrong' and at how many doors he thinks a motorbike has "oh he went through the front door" OHH out the side door" etc haha he definitely makes it more interesting

had to laugh at Latvia this year I can't remember who he was talking about but apparently he was "yet to sniff the box" then paused, laughed and said "pardon the pun" haha

Yep, he even made a training school day at Maggiora last month. Big fan of Jeff Emig here
