Active Suspension - only a matter of time

Surprised they don't have electronic adjusters on the handle bars that can be used during a race for fine tuning yet. Wouldn't need to be automatic or gps controlled.

The average rider complains about checking pressure on air forks! This level of sophistication will put them in a coma!

Fox has active suspension pretty much ready to go for MTB and UTVs, and it sounds like it's a game changer. With all of the onboard telemetry pro moto teams use these days, it's only a matter of time before it is used to adjust suspension in real time. A system like this would allow you to program your bike to react more accurately to different terrain than the standard hi/low speed dampening, while also allowing for different programs to be run depending on varying track conditions and rider fatigue. You could even incorporate roll angle to have the suspension react differently in a corner compared to a straight.

What do you guys think?
Would it really be possible to be pushing buttons on the handlebars while racing? When would you do it?

We are already using both feet (shift and rear brake), right hand is throttle and front brake, left hand is clutch. Plus standing and sitting and trying to balance a 200+ pound machine over ruts bumps and jumps... A lot going on while riding already. is adjusting suspension really and option?

If taking a hand off to pull a tear/roll off is possible, a simple up down button/buttons for harder/softer would be possible I think. Riders adjust clutch levers also, couple of thumb buttons wouldn't be an issue.

Can you afford a $20,000 450MX bike?
Things become cheaper over time. You know these new cars that can apply the brakes automatically in case the dumb ass driving isn't paying attention? That radar technology would have cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars back in the 80s and now you can get it on a Hyundai. In 30 years mx bikes will probably be 20K anyways, may as well at least have some trick shit on them!

I've always talked to my riding buddies about electro magnetic suspension, but I want something different. I'd like to see it work as a safety for big bottoming situations. Kind of like an "oh shit" button that you could press to put the suspension in a stiffer anti bottoming mode until it is disengaged.

I feel like costs are getting out of hand already...

In addition to all complaints about complexity and cost in this thread, it is outlawed in both MXGP and AMA competition.

Exact-a-mundo...Unless there's a rule change I doubt you'll see this stock anytime soon.

Also, if you non-readers check out the article on the Fox Live system- it makes adjustments in .003 of a sec. The average human can only react to tactile stimuli in something like .12 so the computer is faster than the human.

And you're looking at, for MTB a cost of around $3500. You guys will spend that in a heartbeat on "A-Kit" forks/ shock.
