I wonder where she falls in as far as the debate over access to guns. She had reported problems with mental illness and a huge number of calls to the house for domestic violence. Nobody questioned this woman having weapons?
I am sick of the whole gun control debate. But this one is truly out there.
Could anybody in their right mind argue that if only the girls had been packing heat, justice would have been served? I look at the situation with gun violence in our country with sadness, not an agenda. It's just fucked up is what I am trying to say.

Extreme right winger? Probably had Foxnews blaring 24/7; that would make anyone lose their mind.
To many people, the level of gun violence has risen to unacceptable levels. Access to guns is just one part of the problem. We just shrug our shoulders and say "eh, it happens," when children get shot down in cold blood, over and over and over and over in America.
So far in DC this year, a 2-year old, two 6-year olds, a 7-year old and an 8-year old have been shot by stray bullets. We never progressed beyond the Wild West days when people shot each other over nothing.
Every single mass shooting needs to be evaluated. We need to ask ourselves, "what could we have done to prevent this"? What could have been done to keep weapons out of the hands of Adam Lanza or James Holmes? Any conversation other than this is pointless political posturing IMHO.
Our Western form of medicine has evolved into far too many pill pushers. Don't like this one? Here's a different one with different side effects. BUT! Don't stop taking it cold turkey, because that's worse than never having taken it all. Ok? See you in 3 months.
Many of the mentally ill already have a loaded "weapon" (their mind). A gun, cutco knife, car, etc. are just tools for a crisis.
This should not evolve into just a gun debate, but rather into a case study for how a family handles mental health. Pills and therapy aren't for everyone.
Need an exploration into alternatives available. Not being covered on the health plan is not a good enough answer.

I have to confess that I'm curious as to what the family meeting was about. Something sure tripped mom's descent into madness. Obviously, there is no excuse for this. NONE. I don't care what went on in that family meeting.
Perhaps the husband admitted to infidelity and the mother decided to punish him through his daughters. I don't know. I'm just speculating. It could have been any number of serious things. On the other hand, with some people you never know. Perhaps crackers and cheese were served at the family meeting and the cheese had mold. These days...you just never know until the survivor testifies. Even then, is it the truth?
